Recently got my copy. Makes a great solo adventure game which definitely helps on the game length. Still is definitely a longer game but we’ll worth it. I like being the Iowa City factions because it’s only about an hour from where I live. Great review as always.

A great review, sir. I love this game. For me it sits in the same sort of place as the HexploreIt games or Xia Legends of a Drift System and I only play them solo. For whatever reason, my friends prefer games that are less sandbox / story telling affairs. How I’m friends with people like that is beyond me. Ha! I think my biggest regret with getting this is that I got the complete 2nd edition when I already had everything for the first and I really only got it just so everything would fit in the bigger box! The bigger neoprene map is very nice and def improves the game, but damn. I’m a bit more disappointed with this than I’d thought I’d be and I still have a 1st edition that I have no idea what I’ll do with. Cheers!
Agree, the card management is a nightmare. It’s too bad. The app doesn’t help you track special abilities whatever a certain phase comes up.. we love the game, but players were getting frustrated by constantly missing special abilities strewn about all the cards.
When I was a youngster I would have been all over this. Sadly now an old fart that plays games with my Gen Z son, my ex wife and my friends wife. Not a chance this lot could get their collective bonces around this :(, easy to play 90 minuters for me

When you say ‘post-apocalyptic ameritrash monster’ you are in my wheelhouse. But after that my reservations creep in… First, it’s a Kick$hitter product with UK retail still in the future. Second, there are an awful lot of icons to keep track of and the player area looks a mess. Third, I would aim to play this in my group of 4-5 players and within a 2-3 hour gaming session which ain’t happening from what you say. I agree there’s much to like, but any game that isn’t going on the table is useless cardboard and plastic.

The game cost around $120 and with everything is around cost $203 game look good wish i hade the money even when I do have the many I most like wound like to get ummm Nemesis for like around $150 and with all the extra and stuff for Nemesis let just say $$$ I just if I am paying over $100 on a game I would like nice look game pieces
OoO is the card stock quality good? Like i got Zombie Cats did not even play the damn game yet accidentally drop it on the bloody stairs and it the card got damage complete Bollocks for $25 at Walmart.
Wow, so many praises, didn't know you could do that, I guess I have to put this game on my wishlist now! Shame the board looks like 🤢... too 80's for my liking, but hey, if gameplay is good then nevermind. Thanks for your review!

The theme of this game is right in my wheel house, but it's a tough one to find anywhere here in the UK. Also, the aesthetics are a bit weak for my tastes of Ameri-trash goodness. I managed to find a Collector's copy of Outlive at a price point that didn't require me to donate a testicle or my eldest child to seal the deal and, for me, it kind of scratches a similar itch even if the most generous assessment is that it is a flawed gem. I need to check and see if you have passed your jaundiced eye over that game.
I'm sorry but the art direction on this has me running for the hills. It does remind me a bit of Defenders of the Last Stand though which is also a post apocalyptic game...
This game has random die rolls for how far you can move? Yuck! That is a sure sign of crap game design. I noped out of this video only 4 minutes in. Keep up the good work man!

I agree. I like the sound of this but the art for this makes it a non-starter.

Actually it doesn't. The for roll is a bonus movement so anything you get is just that...a bonus

Xia does dice for movement with decent mitgators in the Embers expansion and it works just fine.
