She handled the rough better than any other player. Her demeanor is what keeps her balanced and focused. What character to handle the 2 early doubles. A very strong woman. She will do well on tough courses.

PLEASE TELL ME! I got up rather early this morning to watch the Women's Open on TV but saw in the paper that the coverage didn't begin until noon here on the west coast. When it finally came on, the last group was finishing the fifth hole. I was so upset! On Saturday the last group didn't tee off until late in the afternoon and finished as it was almost dark. Also, today, Sunday, I Googled the starting times and saw that they had teed off using both the first and tenth tees. Why? And why didn't the coverage begin earlier for the final round of a woman's major? When the TV coverage began, Lexi Thompson had the tournament won, so it seemed, as she was playing well and none of the other ladies were making any type of charge. The coverage had missed the two double bogies of Saso and the poor play of many others. It would have been interesting to have seen that. I showered, dressed, and was going to go to the health club when I decided to watch just a little more. Never did I expect to see such an exciting finish. But I'm still a bit disappointed in the coverage earlier in the day. Why? I intended to write the Rolex Corporation to thank them for the commercial free coverage and to ask them why they allowed the coverage on the final day to be so messed up. Also, I was going to write the USGA to ask them the same. I see that this might be an official USGA post so maybe they'll see this post. Again, I hark back to the coverage on Saturday where the coverage began hours before the leaders teed off. We saw the leaders on the practice tee starting to hit balls. Too bad for Lexi Thompson! I'm sure she'll carry this finish for the rest of her life. That's unfortunate as she's such a marvelous player. I fully expected her to win by a large margin. One must give credit to Saso for continuing to grind away after her disastrous start. She could have given up. There's certainly a lesson there for all athletics to keep pushing until the very end. And the young amateur, Megha Ganne, gave us all a thrill with her superb play throughout the tournament. As much as she and her parents say she'll finish high school, enroll in Stanford, and stay the four years, it remains to be seen. I'm sure Nike, Taylor Made, and a host of other companies would sign her right now for a lot of money. Whatever she does, let's wish her the best. And the best to all of you. Sorry for the long post. It was such an exciting tournament I just had to express my feelings. Thanks for giving me the opportunity. And if you do have any answers for me, please pass them along.
