That's exactly how I react every time I watch/listen to his songs. I love him so much
He says he gets his lyric and song inspiration from movies/tvs/books but the amount of emotion he puts into it always has me second guessing that statement he always gives with these songs.
Obviously, I can only believe what he says but also, I understand 100% that he is an idol and sometimes they can’t or won’t share their personal lives….so whilst he may say what his inspiration is…I take it with a grain of salt and just move on because there is no effing way that he hasn’t experienced some of what he writes about with the amount of emotion he throws into it.

A. Not all of Han's solo songs are based on fiction, and no matter where in his life he pulled the lyrics from... (🙄 Yeah, baby, Volcano is definitely about us. Whatever you say, love.) That doesn't change the fact that some of his solos are his true reality.
2. When it comes to Han, you can not simply listen to the song and run with your first impression of the lyrics. 99% chance that you will be wrong. Lol, you have to sit and work through them, just how he did while writing them. You have to take each and every sentence and its meaning into account and factor it into the story he's telling.
So, the better your "emotional intelligence" is, and the more you can relate to the characteristics that make Han who he is. (Specially mentally) The better chance you have at understanding the song correctly. Which, in the case of 'Volcano', is of the utmost importance because it's not sad at all!

He wrote a TRULY beautiful song about healing, having someone you will do anything for and who would do anything to protect you. About having all the things that were once your living nightmare be flipped turned upside down because of them.
All because of that love, real love, and the happiness it had brought him.... Plus, as you are talking about, all the other things he never had in his life as well. Being SEEN, having YOUR person, belonging.

To put it simply, 'Miserable' is purely fiction. However, 'Volcano' is not. He said that was from his heart. Moreover, I am leaving this comment before I even watch the video. Lol No, 'Volcano' is NOT in any way, shape, or form sad or toxic. There is nothing at all wrong with being willing to take a bullet for someone you love. The only way that could ever turn toxic is if the person you love ALLOWS you to take that bullet for them.
Based on the fact that the person in his song has refrained from allowing Han to see those scars in of itself proves that they do not wish to risk that. The entirety of the lyrics point to the deepest of love, completely and utterly untoxic, and beteeen to imperfect and flawed people who have scars from their past. And whom would do anything to protect each other from getting hurt, whether that be by their hand or the persons past.
You just have to avoid latching on to a few negative sounding words, because In the full context, they aren't at all negative. Simple as that. In fact, if you ask me, 'Volcano' and 'Miserable' are quite literally polar opposites of one another in basically every single way.
