They can refer to asianboss..usually the personal belongs of Kodokushi are sold by the insurance companies
Yes. Most of the surplus from Japan belonged to the dead people. I saw the documentary from Asian Boss too regarding Kodokushi. It's a sad reality in Japan.

Off topic: In France, they also have this similar culture where supermarkets are banned from throwing and wasting edible foods. Instead, they donate it to the needy. I'm really hoping that someday our law also have this in the Philippines. The throwing away of foods or old things should be act up as a solution to donate or sell it in any other way. In the end, it can help us by helping another one also.
I live in France and I will disagree with you because supermarkets still throw their goods...cora... leclerc are two examples I can give. They throw it because they don't want people accusing them for fpod poisoning....by the way... my sister in law works in cora and my niece works in leclerc.....so?

Medyo kulang yung documentary, kasi i was expecting something when sinabi na babalik kung saan nag simula (15:50), but when they show Japan, they just show that there is also surplus, 2nd hand shop, thrift show or etc....
Overall, it's still a good documentary about Japan surplus. But, hindi nasagot ang tanong sa title.
Tama naging specific yung title
Yan yung sagot.

Vacationed in Japan and totoo yang madaming 2nd hand shops even sa province area. Nakakatuwa kasi mura pero good quality pa. There are also 2nd hand shops na pwede mo ibenta sakanila yung items mo specially if high-end then issell nila sa shop nila mismo.

In japan There is what we called lonely death. I think all the things that owned by the dead person are sold in the public, once it is not claimed by their relatives, because the house/apartment is also sold to someone.

Some of these surplus came from dead people in Japan and it wasn't even mentioned in this documentary. I don't like to be using 2nd hand stuff from other people especially from other countries we are not entirely sure whom it came from it might be carrying deadly diseases. This docu greatly changed my views of surplus. Thanks, Atom for this!
I had several traumatic experiences with a second hand backpack I bought from a same kind of store. The guy seated next to me turned out to be a holdaper. Hiniwa nya ang bag ko and I actually felt his hand inside the bad. Nothing was taken by the way. After a while, habang nagaabang ng FX pauwi (it was morning but a weekend and just before a holiday so wala masyado tao) nilapitan naman ako ng holdaper and asked me to give him my bag at knifepoint. Binigay ko na, pero no idea what he was thinking or maybe I was lucky, he opened it and just took my mobile then returned the bag to me and left.
After that I never used the bag and never bought anything from a second hand shop.
