Watching this video made me feel incredibly lonely. But, oddly enough, it made me feel determined in a way too - like no matter how lonely I might be, I have to keep trying, keep moving forward, and never look back. Strange, really, but beautful all the same.

I wanted to bring a childhood innocence to the streets, through a character whose own light and wonder effects the world around her. I'm always interested in an atmosphere where dreams and reality mingle on equal terms."

I find it fascinating that her surroundings, so vast and busy, freeze around her as she continues through the scene, fragile and small. Almost as it time itself is stopping and she is travelling in a way that no one else can. I also love that she is so plain, so average, with exception of her golden hair. No one seems to notice her but she is all over the city. I would love to sit down with the director and find out what he was thinking. So beautiful.
I believe she's supposed to be sunlight iself :
For one, nobody notices her.
Next, there's the fact that she blends in seemingly with human beings when you look at her second by second (ie, when time flows normally). It's the case in real life : you can see light just fine when time flows normally (Thankfully !). However, if you slow down time and look at her every nanosecond, she keeps going while everyone else is frozen : Light is far quicker after all, it travels at 0.3m/nanosecond. She keeps going at the same speed, we merely look at her from different perspectives.
Then there's the fact that she disappears at the end during sunset, on a spot of the road where the sun is still shining.
Lastly at 5:08 her shadow splits when time slows down : her legs keep moving, her chest does not. That could be explained by the fact that there is a greater distance between your head and the ground compared to your feet and the ground, so the shadow of your lower body is displayed quicker than that of your upper body (it takes mere nanoseconds to display the entire thing). As a result, since we're looking at her within intervals of mere nanoseconds, the only shadow that has time to be displayed is that of her lower body.

I think the point is that everybody is so special and unique and thats invisible to the croud/people. In these days almost nobody cares whats is truly around them. And thats bad. She is just invisible to these people.

Milton Lescano You weren't alone man. In 2015 I went through some hard depression over my ex. I came across Sigur Ros and I balled everytime I heard there songs. But when I saw this music video, I cried endlessly because the places (NY) that were filed in this music video are the same places me and my ex went. So it really hit hard

Correct me if I'm wrong and I very well could be but isn't that your interpretation? You would agree that that is how you viewed the video? If so then please let me be entitled to what I take from the video as well. Not everyone wants to psychoanalyze every video some want to just take the video for what it is. So thanks for "breaking it down" for me, but I'll stick to finding beauty in the ways I want to perceive it. Maybe YOU should stop trying to tell people how to think and just let them be.

I think it's because they went for the standard New York is alive setting very generic and i'm surprised they went for this. I loved the one with the torches on the cliff that they did for this they should have stuck with that

as far as I know it's just a name. I had a friend once who's from Iceland and she shrugged when I asked her if Sigur Rós meant anything.
"it's just a weird name" she said "who knows what they thought when they made that up. They're like that. Words are not important, the music is."
