    You are quite right Graeme, I was on a dig last Saturday and when I was eating my lunch I was watching other members from the shelter of my car, I was amazed by how many of them walk around swinging their coils 5 to 6 inches above the ground at a walking speed more suitable for trying to catch a bus.
    Keep up the good work.

      Its a difficult task changing the mindset of people as they are comfortable in searching that way but they would find a lot more by lowering the search coil a little and slowing down

      @@unearthed-detecting-tv when I started detecting several years back I purchased a XP Deus, I was lucky enough to get a 3 hour lesson in detecting from Gary Blackwell, the emphasis was on scrubbing the grass slowly and overlapping your coil sweeps. His simple advice has always worked for me.

    That tool is a great way forward and we all have hit a good target and makes more sense as most people don't think before digging and me I prefer wide holdes for deep targets and small her holes for small targets or any target that sounds iffy and always double check my pin pointing before digging and mostly use me hands so to damage stuff as hand are better than tools

  • @matthewwatters5870
    @matthewwatters5870 Před 2 lety +1

    Yeah I'm quick when swing and walking most days but I only do that at first just to get the obvious out the way the start just taking long swings slowly with nearly full length and cover as much as possible as my mate does as you describe and always criticising my swing when I literally had my extension break so I can understand why it seems cheeky to say

    Nice video overall; unfortunately, for Texas in the US, that type of plastic digging tool is useless. We have thick, clay gumbo-type soil that bakes as hard as a rock in summer. That tool would last less than a minute, but I understand you want to negate the damage from 'normal' digging and lesche tools destroying coins and relics.
