    The song "A Sort of Homecoming" by U2 is about the feeling of connection and longing for a place of comfort and security during difficult times. The singer looks at the situations of suffering and struggles around him, but also acknowledges the hopefulness of coming home. The chorus lines of "On borderland we run/And still we run/We run and don't look back/I'll be there/I'll be there tonight" reflect the need to keep pushing forward while still searching for a sense of home and peace. The bridge gives the song a sense of assurance that the singer will eventually find their way back home. The song is ultimately an anthem of courage and hope in the face of hardship and adversity.

      This song is actually inspired from the french poet Paul Celan, or Paul Antschel witch was his real name "Poetry is a homecoming".He was actually Romanian born, and was of jewish descent,and his parents was killed during the Holocaust. And as of this, he suffered of guilt the rest of his life. He committed suicide, by throwing himself in river Seinen. But the song is also about the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombing, that the citziens viewing the destruction of the two cities. The title "The Unforgettable Fire " comes from an exebition from a war museum ,depicting the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

    What I love about U2 is that all four of them are working 100% all the time to make it beautiful, unique and perfect. You can focus on any one of them at anytime and hear it. The Baseline is perfect, the Drum-line is perfect, the Guitar is celestial and the Vocals are so sincere and full of passion. U2 can give you emotionally satisfying musical highs every single time.

    If you thought that was great. Watch the live version of this. It’s Bono at the absolute top of his craft. He is by far the best live rock and rolll singers of all time

    From U2's first (of many successful) collaboration with Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois, this album "Unforgettable Fire", "Joshua Tree", "Rattle and Hum", "Acthung Baby", "Zooropa", "Pop".

      "Faces ploughed like fields that once gave no resistance". Just great lines all throughout. I'm not 100% sure what the song is about, although I suspect it has something to do with WWI, but it's just brilliant through & through. And the irony is that this was written and recorded when U2 were barely good enough to keep a song from running off the rails. They really didn't know how to write "good" songs at the time, but were just churning out such great music. Ah nostalgia.

      @@loadedorygun I probably read it this lyrical interpretation in the book " U2 by U2 "...... You also can interpret the hidden meaning in your own way because Bono's lyrics often have several different meaning.

      Means different things to different people in different ways. You can discover new perspective every time you listen. I used to live on the side the road on the side of a hill as the valley explodes ( one day a factory went up in flames when I was a boy ): so for me it's about family and home

    • @x19fan1
      @x19fan1 Před rokem +2

      Just my opinion and interpretation: U2 was, then, a controversial band in their home country because they took a stand of peace despite the fighting in Ireland at the time. Listen to how Bono reflects of being outside the fight (lives in the hills above while the valleys explode). U2 was traveling around the world playing music as people fought in the streets…Coming home to all that- yet still carrying a message of hope and peace is what I make of this story/song.

      What do you mean about them not being able to write "good" songs? The lyrics? I think they were superb, a top band, specially in this period, until the new century.

    • @bminturn
      @bminturn Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@facundoroncaglia6167 you're missing why I put quotes around the word "good". They weren't writing "good songs" from a music theory standpoint. But they were bangers nonetheless.
