LISZT: Benediction de Dieu dans la Solitude; WAGNER/LISZT: Tannhauser Oveture; SCHUBERT/LISZT: 3 of 4 songs; SCHUBERT: Sonata in A, D 959 Jorge Bolet, piano ASCONA 06/09/1988.
Dear Helen and Herman, Thank you so much for posting your piano treasures, particularly the recitals by Bolet. He is one of my very favorite pianists - romantically free in his playing, but never eccentric, with technique to burn. He is what I think of as a "central" pianist, one whose interpretations so often seem just right, unexaggerated but not boring. Anyway, these recitals are gems; his playing live has something special that his studio recordings rarely capture. I think he was a real stage animal and needed an audience to inspire him. Many, many thanks again. James Calvert, Houston, Texas.
+jukeh The more I listen the more my respect and admiration grow. I find comfort in his honesty and originality, and am truly delighted he moves you too. I have many Bolet recordings, and hope to put more up on CZcams, to share his particular genius, to preserve the events. Thank you.
Thank you for publishing this. A couple of days later he played the same program in Leverkusen, Germany. I was there. He played a Baldwin piano there and I recorded the recital. Unfortunaly only the Schubert D959 survived as a recording, so again thanks for the YT recording. Brings back great memories of a great man and pianist.
+Peter Lemken Dear Peter, I am so very happy to hear from you, and happy too that this video brings back great memories of him. I would like to correspond with you more privately, but know nothing of facebook or google plus, or anything else except for messages, as opposed to comments, and email. I never heard him in person, and that loss becomes more apparent to me with every video. At least I have a lot of him to share!
+Helen and Herman in Lawrence (and Mr. Lemken): May I ask you both to email me directly--from your direct email addresses? My direct address is: fjcrociata@gmail.com. May I ask if you both (Helen/Herman & Peter) have the Marston Six-CD Set, Jorge Bolet Live: Vol. 2--Ambassador from the Golden Age, and if not, hope that you will do so? Francis PS That set contains the Carnegie Hall performance of the Tannhauser Overture--the remainder of the program was the same as this one, with three encores--all of which I'd be glad to provide to you both.
Probably my favorite climax not only of Bolet's recorded Tannhausers, but of all of the Wagner/Liszt Tannhausers out there. 37:13 is done with such majesty.
I have been a huge JB fan for 38 plus years. I have always wondered where are all the live recordings of JB? Thanks for sharing these performances. This is absolutely wonderful. I look forward to more of your uploads.
+Steve D I am so glad this music finds a home in you. As it happens, I have a lot of Bolet performances live, and I look forward to bringing them to you as much as you look forward to them. Thank you.

Some of the finest Liszt I have ever heard! What a master pianist!

+Peter Lemken Is there an chance you might bring forth this Schubert?

I'm confirming, this is a Baldwin piano. I was at this recital. I whrite a revue on a local newspaper.
0:12 Liszt; 19:59 Wagner/Liszt; 39:45 Schubert/Liszt (Der Müller und der Bach, Auf dem Wasser zu singen, Lebe Wohl!); 1:02:17 Schubert.
Thank you; it will perhaps interest you to know that I am working on another Bolet recital at this time, and your timings are greatly appreciated.
Wonderful news. The more Bolet, the better. Would be happy to add timings to all your videos (not only the Bolet ones).

The 4th song of Schubert/Liszt (Die Forelle) is not missing!
