    In today's video we take a stroll around Ningxia night market here in Taipei! First I sample a grilled Taiwanese sausage dish consisting of pork & sticky rice, onion, basil with chilli, then, I find a deep fried battered squid stall, which is absolutely irresistible, so I had to get some of this, next up; deep fried batter pork spare rib coated in an amazing marinade! Time for a drink, iced watermelon!! So refreshing, a must after all these fatty & fried foods. Finally, I see something that I've never seen before, Pearl Corn, multicoloured corn on the cob, steamed within hot rocks, then dunked in a salty sauce, then bbq'd until caramelised... delicious!!!
    Thanks for watching guys! 🙏🇹🇼🙏

    Hi Dan! The corn is bathed with a mixture of soy sauce, oyster sauce, peanut powder and the main sauce called 沙茶醬, which is widely eaten for hot pot. It consists of soybean and shrimp paste. It goes really nice with the sweet corn.
    The fish cake you were eating with the spicy stir-fried sausage and onions looks to me like the fried sweet fish paste called satsuma age in Japanese.

    the bumpy shapped thingie in that fruit shop @ 33:37 is called bitter melon. It is actually a vegitable. The disgusting bitter taste of its juice is very good for your health, so they said.

    39:57 yeah you can spend a life time in this market for sure :) and you can always do a follow up video, go to different stall(s) , there are also other night markets right throughout Taiwan and they don't necessary serve the same food, hope you get a chance to try a few :)

    Your pronunciation of the night market is correct! good job :)
    hope you have fun and good time there =P
    that corn is also my favorite meal :) very delicious.
    The interesting thing is it can be very different (and yum for sure) based the way it grilled and the sauce people put on.

    Great video! However, as a friendly reminder from a former resident in Taiwan, it's very rude just to stick your camera toward the item display area or kitchen area like you did before. People tolerate this due to the fact that they are generally nice to foreigners, but this should not be taken for granted and I can see several owners of the food stands were offended, just in case you can't tell their minor facial expression there.

    • @DanvsFood
      @DanvsFood  Před rokem +2

      Thank you Eason! In my opinion, a street food stand simply being set up at such a night market is putting themself on view, I understand people can be intimidated by a camera, even I can be, so I understand this part. But what you're saying is that people like vloggers or photographers shouldn't't film anything at markets unless they ask permission from every individual stall and stand and worker at the market first?
      I think there are thousands of night market videos on CZcams and those filming it didn't ask each stall first before filming, but maybe they did haha. If I did that, it would take forever, and guarantee at the end of all of it, there wouldn't be a video 🤣
      I think they can handle a few seconds with a camera in front of them or their dishes, it's not the end of the world 😜
      Thanks for your input and I'm glad you enjoyed watching 👍

    taiwan is certainly not cheap

    • @DanvsFood
      @DanvsFood  Před rokem

      Ya, these dishes can definitely be found cheaper elsewhere, it's just that it's a famous and popular night market in the centre of Taipei, so I think that's why the prices are on the higher side 🙏
