One of the very few advantages of growing up in an abusive environment, is learning to hide in plain sight, at a young age.
Another thing, that goes along with hide in plain sight, is not looking like you have any money, at all. If you look poor, bums are less likely to panhandle you, and "regular" people don't want to know you exist.

I learned early (maybe at the age of 10) that minimizing attention in a world where anonymity is possible is an extreme advantage. One does not get registered by strangers, forgotten really fast even when doing the strangest things, it also benefits directly by achieving what is expected by the crowd by moving with the crowd almost automatically. On the other hand this lifestyle puts you at a big disadvantage regarding a very important thing: It also reduces attention of the (probably sought after) opposite sex.
Honestly I also don't know a solution to this as I'm living like this for over a decade now. Normally I do not even comment as it could draw unwanted attention, but maybe the viewers here do/did experience the same issues as I did...

I love shopping at thrift stores. I find wonderful clothes in great condition for decent prices. Sometimes thrift stores are only slightly cheaper than going to the mall, but it's still fun to look around. You can pay top dollar for something "new," but the minute you wash it, it is now "used" and ready for the thrift store.
Another tip for when you want to blend in to escape...wear layers. Your appearance can change when you take off or add a long sleeved shirt. Do you have a snug sleeveless shirt in a different color underneath the baggy tshirt that you currently have on? Wear a jacket that is reversable. I used to own a ski jacket that was reversable and had sleeves that zipped off so it became a vest. I miss that jacket.

Look at that area with your vision going from top to bottom. Take narrow width sections and work them. I was trained in man tracking, individually, in teams and motorized. If someone is standing still and observing you, you will be able to detect that person. You will be able to see objects that do not move and otherwise would escape your predator vision.
