    Most customary communication is via signs or symbols. Giving of the back of chicken was an agreed sign of respect to the head of the household . As long as you were giving the husband any other part of chicken, you were in effect telling him the chicken was still available in the pot. The intent is worthy, but let it be any part of chicken that a man prefers!
