- A week after Danica Patrick made history in the IndyCar Series, Ashley Force made history in the NHRA. Ashley Force becomes the first woman in NHRA history to win in the Funny Car bracket.

i was at this race, me and my friends were sitting right at the starting line, section A row 5. GRATZ ASHLEY!!!
What I find amazing is how John's car goes down right after take off and still goes over the finish line with a faster time than most sport cars.
Don't know much about John Force. When that flopper comes down, he doesn't know, doesn't care who's in the other lane...........
I miss Ashley. I love the Force family. Brittney is killing it in Top Fuel right now, and owns most of the national ET and speed records.

I've been a fan of John for years! I have talked to him a couple times in the pits at Indy and Chicago (Rt 66) He still has the passion to race and it's clear Ashley does too!

Just noticed people speculating about whether or not John "threw" the race by smoking the tires. Whether or not the car smokes the tires is mainly about the setup. If you're too aggressive on the setup, you risk that. If you're not aggressive enough on the setup, you're not fast enough to win. It's a razor edge setup issue. When the lights come on, if you're the driver, you just hit the throttle. Smoking the tires is always a risk in a final. You have to hit it "just right" to win. Very difficult. Also, don't forget, it was hard for both drivers to race their way into the final. Whoever wins, deserves it.

He, a veteran driver, also had a .170 light and made an immediate left turn towards the wall.

He threw it he did it in indy a year later remember that
John did not throw the race. (well he might have) but that was the idea John was in on Daniel's proposal and part of the surprise was Ashley had to race her dad not just for the trophy but the ring on her finger. After Ashley won and went up on the medal stand Danial Hood got on one knee and proposed to her and she said yes. Long story short Danial Hood and Ashley got married and the rest is Team Force history.
ashley is def gonna be a legend in the sport she's on a elite team with good equiptment she will be a champion maybe this year
I have to say she is a good role model for the sport all the little girls look up to her. when I was at Englishtown last weekend I noticed a lotta girls under the age of 13 with her dolls and stuff getting autographs from her. she is gonna to be a legend in this sport for years to come

they were and they were in on the proposal. The Atlanta Win was also the day that Ashley got her ring and Daniel proposed to her.

and there was another reason why John let Ashley beat him you know Danny Hood he is John's crew chief and he is also Ashley's husband it is this race Atlanta 2008 where Danny Hood proposes to Ashley and Ashley makes history. After this race Team Force went to celebrate at Tahoe and Ashley married Danny and as they say the rest is Team Force history. Ashley is now the general manager and sr. editor for Team Force and now her sons and niece they are where Ashley was back in 2004 driving Supercomp cars and soon they will be headed to Dragster. The next generation of Team Force has already begun.

It sucks when John Force says pre-race to one of the crew members over the radio,”Hey Is There Any Chance Of Us Smoking The Tires?” Um hello that screams fixed race right there for me & I get it Johnny Force is a 16 time funny car champion & wants to see his baby girl Ashley win & my Beautiful Daughter has the same Beautiful name and spelling so just hearing the name “ASHLEY” Raises the hairs on the back of my neck but John Force has been known to fix a few races & it's so much more noticeable in drag racing than it is in drag racing than it is in oval track racing in most cases, not all clearly but most imo. Take care my racing friends & all of humanity as I write this on “May.25.2020” in this crazy CRAZY WORLD 🌍 And this “Covid-19 ~ Epidemic” and I truly hope that the whole World can finally come together and look at one another regardless of race or religion. Late to the party here but we love watching The Force family racing. This one was sort of not a race though in all honesty. Johns car took a crap right off the line so I don't really consider that a race. Happy for Ashley, don't get me wrong. I'd love to see a rematch of that but they didn't ask me!

Ashley is the first... For some reason I thought Muldowney won at least once in Funny Car.
I believe Shirley Muldowny won in top fuel rail cars with 3 championships I believe which is unbelievable. I love both drag racing & nascar & grew up watching both & pit crewing in both & I understand the passion for both sports & it was so cool when John Force took a Buck Baker NASCAR School back in the 90’s I believe it was & Buck Baker said John was clowning around all the time & it was kinda disturbing Buck how he wasn’t taking it serious but come time to go into the class part & getting in the car & listening on the in car radio Buck Baker said John was all business & had a totally different appreciation for NASCAR & how hot & fast & the concentration that goes into it for 3-4hrs really took John back.

Cristen Powell was the first in 1997 at the Mopar parts nationals.
In the history of Racing sports, I believe only 4 ladies have won either NASCAR, Indy cars, NHRA, Monster Jam, Super Motorcross, etc. are Danica Patrick (Indy cars), Ashley Force & Shirley (forgot last name) (NHRA)and Debra Micelli (Monster Jam)
There are alot more females to win races than that in NHRA.

I think this fix and a few others by JFR might be why Austin Coil left suddenly.He doesn’t seem like the type to fix races within the team.Coil wanted to outperform every other car by outrunning them.My opinion
i would agree with you on that point, but it was a victory for the team and thats all john would care about especially since it was his daughter,

I think it is wonderful that a woman who is intelligent and can carry herself well in interviews and with the public is such a big name in the sport. I hate that because of who your father is and because of how you look; you have to be second guessed. You have already proven yourself over and over again and I can't believe people would still question your skill. I am a new fan as I just went to the NHRA Southern Nationals yesterday, but am hooked. You have definitely gained a new fan!

John should've run a strong race to really give it to her. The 'force radio' blurb about tire smoking was a dead give away he was going to throw the race. I think she could've done it without the rollover by John. Maybe it was a way for Joh to keep face, but I think it was a disservice to Ashley. JMO.
