2021 Double Play Compacts | Skating and Space | New Polly Pocket!

- Hey, everyone! Today we're looking at new Polly Pocket sets, the Double Play Skating compact and the Double Play Space compact. These are the only two sets in this style that I know of, but if they come out with more, I'll definitely be getting them! =) I think these sets are really cute and I'm happy to see some new accessories, since most new Polly sets reuse accessories over and over. These sets are fun to play with and beautiful to display! I hope you enjoy the video! =)

I got the UFO one a while ago for my birthday! The only other modern Polly compact I have is the narwhal one, and I was a little disappointed with it’s contents. The UFO is definitely an improvement! I love the little alien girl, she’s actually what made me want the compact in the first place. I still find myself a little disappointed in the lack of detail, but it definitely excites me to see any improvements. I just hope this line stays around for a little longer, because I’ve noticed its really difficult to find new sets in stores.
I actually don’t have the narwhal set. I tried to resist the sets with rubber Polly legs as hard as I could, though some I just had to give in to. 😂 The inside of the narwhal set is cute though! And I agree… love the alien girl in the UFO set (and the little alien himself has my whole heart ❤️). Sets are definitely improving with time. I wonder why they’re not coming out with even more vintage style sets. We’ve already had a couple of them and a couple more are on their way, but I’m just too impatient, I guess. I need more and I need them faster! Haha 💕
@@RachelRetro yeah the rubber leg Polly’s are so unpleasant lol! I keep my compact closed most of the time so they don’t get dust stuck to them, and even still after barely 2 years that “Polly stick” function doesn’t work. Narwhals are one of my favorite animals, and the outside of the compact was cute enough that I didn’t care if the inside was underwhelming. It’s definitely cute, but I feel like as a kid I would have found it a little difficult to play with. There isn’t a lot of space to play in, even with the compact being somewhat big.
And I agree, I’d love to see some more reproductions. 2 of my favorite classic sets are Garden Surprise and Midge’s Flower Shop, I think a repro line of some of the oldest compacts would be a great idea, kind of like how they’ve been reproducing the 80’s My Little Ponies (I know it’s a different company but I like the release of small waves as opposed to one bigger set every couple of years personally)
@@ladybellaphram5895 There’s something they did with the vintage sets as far as playability goes that they somehow lost in these newer sets. For me, all the pieces that come with the newest sets are kind of overwhelming. I can’t imagine a kid having to keep track of all of those pieces and figuring out how to fit it all in the set. It drives me crazy sometimes having to do it, haha. I really wish they’d focus less on giving us so many accessories and work harder on the sets.
I actually don’t have either of those vintage sets you mentioned! They’re still on my way too long wish list. 😂 So I’d love it if they came out with reproductions of them as well! 💕

The swirling plane section. The grey circle in middle- has a battery inside- but cant figure out what it’s for, or how to light up mayb ?
That’s interesting! This set isn’t advertised as lighting up and as far as I can tell, mine doesn’t have a battery in it, so I’m stumped!
@@RachelRetro yes im quite confused myself. I tried opening it that mini grey circle bit. Theres a small batery in it. Also the two holes on the patterned flat sides. What are they for ?
Hmm, is it possible that it’s just a weight and not a battery? It does seem they might put a weight in the center so that it spins well. I don’t know the science of it all to explain it well, but it seems like something that I learned once and is stored in the back of my mind. 😂 If the area it’s in doesn’t look like a typical battery compartment, then I would say it’s likely just a weight to help with rotation, since the set isn’t supposed to light up.
As for the holes, I’m not sure. They may just be holes that were necessary for the construction of the set. That’s the best I got. 😂💕
