Morale of the story? Nobody owes you a relationship.

I guarantee if the AP made a post talking about how she had an affair with a married man and it literally saved her life everyone would be praising her and not calling her a predator and saying she took advantage of the guy.

Why shouldn't OP tell his daughter that he doesn't want anything to do with her after 17 years ? He says he doesn't feel anything for her any longer . If you don't feel anything for someone you don't need them in your life .Society says that'you should love your kids whatever they do , that you should always put them first etc etc . Here we have a man who doesn't obey these rules . Maybe he is flawed , I don't know , but he is a free human being entitled to live how he wants now that he has learned to live alone .

Damn… the comments(I’m guessing) don’t hold back, but they all seem to ignore that the marriage was apparently already on the rocks anyway. What did they think would happen?
Thats usually one of the reasons why partners start “cheating”. Also, holy shit… it took the ex-wife and daughter 17 years to contact him again? That sounds sus as hell…
Especially when you remember that he mentioned being alone except for his sister in terms of family. And that he apparently does have money…
    Edit:
Also, like some other yt commenters have mentioned, I am confused as to why the original responders to the post seem so hung up on the fact that he obviously wasn’t stupid enough to doormat himself for a wife that just gave up on him as well even though he fessed up to messing up.
Most cheaters only fess up after they’re caught dead to rights doing it by their spouse and/ or children.
