Interesting comment. I was on YT listening to Karen Carpenter singing Superstar and reading the comments. Someone posted that hers was the most beautiful female voice of all time, to which I agree. Someone responded that they thought Karen was "very very good" but had that person heard Lucy Thomas sing. Honestly, I had never heard of you before. Now I do. I still think Karen is my #1, but I grew up with Karen and her voice is indelibly etched in my heart. But after spending the last several hours listening to you sing I think I can say with great confidence that Karen is looking down from Heaven at you with a smile reserved for the very best. You're beautiful in every way. Best of luck in what is certain to be a long and successful career.
I am not one to ever comment to videos. But I just can’t help myself. This young lady is sensational. So much emotion and feeling. Her voice is so pure, so clear, and flawless. She makes you feel Ike she’s singing directly to you. Her family must be so proud of her.
Lucy does an apt job here but Bette Midler absolutely owns this song. I would love to hear Sissel on this too I do not know why she hasn't made a rendition.

This is classified as a "cover" because it is ! So many people re-sing hits because it's much easier to get attention from an audience. The songs are well known and hits already. but with her voice and her technique she really should sing her own original songs. Songs written by her or from others writing for her. Believe me, I've been a full time musician, music producer and arranger for over 40 years, and when I hear talent like that I do think that she can be an original artist.
I have to agree with Richard Yuen; although Ms. Thomas does amazing covers, they are precisely that-covers. I also agree with him in his assessment of her talent in that she definitely has the skills and voice to be a success in her own right.
This is a nice arrangement however Bette Midler's original version on this song is untouchable in my humble opinion.
Lucy, you have no idea how this has touched my heart, I lost my husband to cancer and I played this song quite a bit, thank you for this, it was so very beautiful, I have tears streaming down my face it was sung so beautifully. Hey Jim. I know exactly what you mean. I lost my mother September 2020. She was always the wind under my wings. Then January 16th of this year i lost my girlfriend of 7 years and 4 month's. It took me several month's to get over it. But i am now moving on. Lucy Thomas and her sister are very special and talented young women. I don't think anyone can top their voices. At least not for some years to come. I love these 2 young ladies.

I've never heard this song even close to your version. And, as you begin to unwind the story you take it to such heights, such impact, pure Lucy. And the volume, as you make everyone know, this isn't going to be like all the others! You put new wings on it and it soars! And to top it off, the ending of "Fly" is so unexpected and beautiful.

Lucy was actually a contestant on "The Voice: Kids" six years ago when she was 13. I can't remember the song she sang. Unfortunately, she didn't win (I think maybe 3rd place, but I forget how the show works). However, it brought her to the attention of Chris Broom, founder/director of Cavendish Records in London, England. He signed her as his preferred artist and they've been working together ever since. They began co-writing a theatrical musical called "Rosie," which is based on the true life story of Rosie Boote, who was raised in an Irish convent/orphanage, but left for London in the late 1800's to make her fortune as a "Gaiety Girl" chorus line singer. She eventually met, fell in love with, and married royalty Geoffrey Taylour, 4th Marquess of Headfort, against his family's wishes and causing a sensation throughout the country (1901). She lived a very colorful life, dying in 1958 at age 80. This musical production was begun in 2018, but has been sadly delayed a few years due to the Covid lockdowns. It is FINALLY due to open at London's famous West End Theater in 2024, starring Lucy herself as Rosie, singing several gorgeous songs written by Mr. Broome. You can find them all on this channel among many other timeless songs she has done. Forgive me if you already knew all this and for the length of my comment! Besides being the best this song's ever been sung, just watching Lucy's face as she sings the lyrics - she is really feeling the story that the beautiful lyrics are telling and you see it in her eyes, the tilts of her head, the facial expressions on that pretty face - I can become completely immersed in the story - and the feelings, of a performer expressing such heart-felt appreciation to someone who's been helping her, but who has to stay in the shadows. It's a perfect performance in every way.

Lucy Thomas is unique beyond her age and what you might think is possible. I have been listening to her sing songs that have been sung by the best voices in history and she goes beyond perfect. I started to think that she needs her own songs, but she has made all these incredible songs hers.
