India's central bank - the RBI - has shifted 100 tonnes of gold from the Bank of England in London to its vaults in India. This is the first time such a move has been made since 1991. Has nothing to do with oil. It is not the government or state owned entities who are buying oil, it is a private company that has traded with Russian oil.
This was Indian gold, stored in London and now it's moving it back partly due to potential sanctions etc. Hope only that Modi doesn't get his hold of it for own use.
