In the aviation world, to keep "stuff" from chaffing we use a similar zip tie arrangement but use a short piece of rubber hose that the zip goes thru from both ends after looping the two bundles/pipes/whatever. uses a single zip and the rubber provides wear and shock resistance, Works great and a fine usage for older hose of say 3/8 to 1/2.
Use a shotgun barrel brass cleaning brush to clean and polish out the inside of the pivot tube. Works great.
The socket head bolts on the recessed helm are a nice touch!
I used to use a brass 12 gauge brush to clean the tube out but I bought a stainless steering tube and that's a game changer.
I used a12 gage shot gun cleaner works well to clean the steering sleeves
I have a 20 foot Boston Whaler Guardian with a 200 hp Yamaha and the SeaStar hydraulic steering makes all the difference in the world.
Looking forward to some sea trial video!!!
As someone who’s had a 13 Whaler for 50 years now I’m really wondering how yours is gonna handle with the weight distribution like it is 🤞👍!
Awesome! I Enjoy the videos. Can't wait for the new mic.
Seem's a lot of money to steer a very small boat. Cable for my very small boat, thanks.
It's the tight console that's the problem :/ even for a rotary
You just mount it so the cable out-feed goes down - lotsa room!@@BornAgainBoating
More info on steering bracket??
Looking like @KeyWestWaterman with that steering on the nose and I dig it! I want to see more of this boat. My 16ft w/tiller might just need this helm setup.
The music was a really nice touch to the video! Mark Rober-esque choice there
Lol thank you!
Knowledgeful video. Good information shared
Thank you!
Commenting for awesome mic stuff.
Some of my hearing was really enjoying this spisode 🥰
BTW, this thing is gonna rock'n roll with a Verado 150 💪
Lol thank you! I wish I could put a 150 on there lol
Awh man i really wanted to see the engine turn side to side.
Time to get on the crab!
Thank you for this video! I've been considering switching my little Whaler to hydraulic. Do you find that hydraulic or cables hold up better years-wise in salt, assuming proper maintenance? I'm on year 20-something of a cable that works great, but I don't like the hassle of having to maintain the rubber boot over it and greasing it on occasion.
Eh, really they both last about the same with like you said, care and maintenance. The hydraulic is just super nice with the ease of use :)
Rubbin is Racin
Now if you could just add a cool outro to your videos ;) Thanks for the content! Good stuff
Thank you!
Way too costly Amazon has rotary kits all included for 150 dollars
Hey, you are the first front console I've seen and I'm wondering... what are the advantages of it over a center console ? The main advantage in my opinion is that you can see much clearer what's in front of you, as well as better weight distribution, but I feel like you would also get sprayed much more easily. I kinda like the idea of having a front console, you're closer to the trolling motor, to the electric anchor, you can only run one sonar instead of needing 2, but I feel like I'm missing a few upsides and downsides...
It's totally a specific function boat. Meant for super shallow waters and used for mainly bully netting lobster. Or others will take it in shallow rivers or canals, bow fishing, stuff like that, where you want to be right in front looking directly into the water.
@@BornAgainBoating Oh, gotcha. I thought this was your all-rounder boat. Do you reckon there are advantages of this kind of setup for regular multispecies use in rivers, or should I stick with center/side consoles or tillers? I like the idea of being able to see whats coming to the bow better, but I don't know enough about that.
I just realized we pass by that boat yard evetime were in the keys lol
Too funny!
I have a 3yr old boat with teleflex cable sterring a 115 Merc, could the cable and tube be bad already?

Given this boat will primarily be a skinny water boat, how come no jack plate or trim and tilt?
It's got power tilt and trim, so no jack plate needed :)
Love your content and videos but what’s with the weird music? 😀
Where did you find the steering wheel?
Amazon :) $50
Hello sir. I have a question. If you don't mind to answer this.
I'm working on an idea of making a twin rudder boat. I'm having a trouble to make the rudder that can operate both simultaneously and individually with only a single steering. Is it possible to make it with this hydraulic steering?
I think the only way that you could do that would be to use a stick steering type of steering system, idk how that would look on a larger vessel with some weight too it, stick steering might not be able to work, because most of those have a max of 90-115HP and are for outboards so idk how you could make to individually controlled hydraulic steering systems with a single steering wheel.
@@BornAgainBoating it's only for small boat to caryy 6-8 people. So, it's kinda complicated and complex to achieve that sir?
Wave crusher? Thought that blue boat was a contender
Can't remember Sorry
😃👍👏👏👏
That's not budget amigo.
