I love that he hasn't gotten rid of his accent like most in the public eye. I'm a northener but my family is from the south and I enjoy hearing the various accents. I hate that people think they have to change it. Keep your culture people.

Local news anchors go to broadcasting school where they learn to speak with a neutral American accent. Most of them are pretty easily able to code switch back and forth between their regular accent and their news anchor accent. For a great example of this, there's the video of the broadcaster that got attacked by bugs in the middle of filming. Very professionally neutral accent but as soon as one flew into his mouth, he slipped right back into his local accent!
When Mexican police were dragging away Jimmy Blevens to be shot the look on Blevens face was chilling. Lucas Black as Blevens in All the Pretty Horses.
