I'm not trying to sound rude or disrespectful, but if the students actually wanted a trans girl as homecoming queen why not have separate homecoming for a biological female and a trans girl or at least vote for a trans girl that looks like she could be biologically female or is perceived as a girl? Looks like she can fit in society as a girl? If this is a progressive school why not do that. Voting for a "trans girl" that still has masculine features with a low pitched voice kind of defeats the purpose of homecoming queen, because the person would be a biological male in a wig. You don't want to give it to someone that looks like you can tell is biologically male. Again not trying to be rude or disrespectful, but just trying to come at it from a logical and common sense standpoint.

I've known a couple trans women and from the glow-ups I've seen her hair is not unrealistic to me. Second, correct me if I'm wrong but you seem to assume that homecoming queen is chosen primarily on looks. I'm sure that factors into the decision to an extent, but at least the way my high school did it that wasn't the only criterion. It's largely a popularity contest, yeah? And while looks certainly affect popularity it's not the only thing that does. I can imagine teenagers, riddled with insecurity as they are, being quite easily taken with a young woman this confident and open about who she is. And in *Florida* of all places. Third, a lot of media really exaggerates how easy it is for minors to transition medically. *Any* kind of surgery is off the table until you're at least 18, and hormone replacement laws vary by state but states that allow HRT for minors won't let you get it before 16. Iirc, Florida is one of the states that won't let you start until adulthood. So her ability to look more feminine is heavily restricted for now. That being said, whether or not a woman looks like a man doesn't change whether or not she is one. Like, honestly as she is she looks more feminine than my mother. I was there when my brother was born so I know she's a "biological female," but I was also there when she got her hair cut short and spent the next few months being called "sir" every time we went out. I was also there last year when another woman harassed her for using the women's restroom because she thought my mom was a "man in a wig." Anyway, point is there's a lot of variety in what it means to look like a woman even among cis women, and gatekeeping who can run for prom queen behind how feminine you are is kinda... Cruel, I think, to women who for one reason or another just don't meet traditional standards of femininity. Also, I just wanna say it's nice seeing another Christian who has actually taken Christ's lessons about loving and being kind to each other to heart. Because a girl who is female assigned at birth being nominated homecoming queen is already what happens. The reason why we are congratulating this specific girl, is because it’s a small moment in history where we can observe trans people being accepted by their peers.

That being said, whether or not a woman looks like a man doesn't change whether or not she is one. Like, honestly as she is she looks more feminine than my mother. I was there when my brother was born so I know she's a "biological female," but I was also there when she got her hair cut short and spent the next few months being called "sir" every time we went out. I was also there last year when another woman harassed her for using the women's restroom because she thought my mom was a "man in a wig." Anyway, point is there's a lot of variety in what it means to look like a woman even among cis women, and gatekeeping who can run for prom queen behind how feminine you are is kinda... Cruel, I think, to women who for one reason or another just don't meet traditional standards of femininity.
Also, I just wanna say it's nice seeing another Christian who has actually taken Christ's lessons about loving and being kind to each other to heart. I'm so used to seeing so much hate from my fellow "Christians" that it's all I'm starting to expect
