- Some people are multi-talented. They can do just about anything they put their mind to. But everyone needs some help at some point. Could you repair your own car? Could you fix your washing machine? Could you mend your favourite bag? If you couldn't or if you don't want to do these things yourself, you need to get someone to do them for you. Grammatically we use a form called the causative to talk about this. Dan tells us all about it in the video. Find out more here www.bbc.co.uk/l...
Have +object +simple past participle
We can use Have /had /having in negative sentences, causative and questioning
That was a fantastic explanation. An example of mine is: I have my house cleaned. Another can be: I've had my personal information secured. Thanks ❤.
Thank you so much, how well explained everything about this topic. I really appreciate 💙
thank you. you have explained so distill, easy to understand.
Dan your mother is right ,I too think you are fantastic!
I am learning not only english language, but your teaching style.
I love your humor hahaha
Amazing... You are an incredible teacher, Dan. Thanks.
Wow your lesson as always best, and undoubtedly you make explanation well. And in my opinion everyone should get it, because isn’t difficult as it seems really.
Thanks for explaining in a short and clear way. Here's my example. I've had my room cleared.
Please insert a link on a course on your website, where we can complete an activity, into a description.
+Mono Root We've added it now.
I have a question sir?? Which one is correct:
(1.)How many clothes have you got stiched.
Or
(2.) How many have you got clothes stiched.
Hmm. Both of these would sound a little strange... what is the exact meaning of what you would like to say?
It's clear! Thanks!
Perfect! Thank you.
Thank you for this short video.😊
Thank you, it was very useful 😀👍

Hi! Wehere is a link?
Would anyone tell me if my sentences are grammatically right ? In 2015 I had a tooth to be revoved / In 2015 I had a tooth exstraction . Thanks
Hi. We would say: 'In 2015 I had a tooth removed/extracted' or using the noun: 'In 2015 I had a tooth extraction.'
@@bbclearningenglish If i say " In 2015 I had a broken devitalizated tooth to be removed which pained me a little bit; you made a good job, just after the surgery it didn't pain me anymore."is that sentence right ?
cool!
Amazing video but tomorow I have a exam!!!
Me too XD
I have AN exam :)
you said at the beginning 'will have been explained' what does it mean? can you make a video about that
+agniSSss23 i think that it will be done by some time in the future.if I`m not mistaken its Future Perfect
It is future perfect in passive voice. You use this tense to indicate that something will be done/finished before another action (in this case, the end of the video)
Hi! Dan, you are fantastic! We are fantastic too! But this fact does not help to understand one phrase you have used. This one - "ab surf" or something like. S sounds like Z, you have used it on 1.08 in this podcast. What does this mean?
shame on me, i found it! Observe!
Lovely explanation, but I would have liked to have had more contextualized examples with a further explanation of its usage.
I agree. The more examples he should've given the better for all non-native speakers. It was too fast.
I have my house painted a few years ago.
👍 Good example of the causative! As this happened a few years ago, we need to use the past form of 'have', which is 'had' - so we would say: 'I had my house painted a few years ago' 😊
@@bbclearningenglish yes, I had my house painted a few years ago. Thank you for your valuable advice.
! hello! hello! "because he eight years old, he's got..........,you can see here? "my listening is still bad
"signs of wear-and-tear". It means something is worn out or broken because of being used for a long time.
I had Cook hired for me.. is ok?
'I had my cook hired' means that you did not choose the cook yourself, you got someone to choose your cook for you.
Can I say "My mother needs to have heart fixed."
Hi Sangita. The correct version would be: 'My mother needs to have her heart fixed'. You can use 'fix' for non-tangible things too - you can fix a problem, fix a relationship etc.
Thank you so much.. You meant I can use "fix" or "fixed" any one of between it?
No he gave you other uses of "fix" :)
I didn't get you (:
look ...u can use " fix' with non-tangible things too - you can fix a problem, fix a relationship etc. BUT !! doesnt mean you can use "fix" or "fixed" as you want .
