- I still remember that night
it was the fourth of July
it's still engraved in my mind
and I'm not surprised
gang wars no guns hand to hand
you're black I'm white he's purple
but I still don't understand
I'm going to be alright
I'm going to be okay
everything is going to be fine
back off 'cause
I want to be alone
I want to think it out
and I'm thinking that I want to go home
look who's laughing now
I'll pull it off somehow
as I passed her by
I could see her cry
and I'll never forget the look
that was in her eye
and the music you know it played
on & on & on
so won't somebody tap her
on the shoulder
tell her life goes on
3 years 2 months 1 week 4 days
I'm always counting down
because there ain't no easier way
trust me
you know look that I tried
and if I said it's easy
then you know that
I told a lie
I'm going to be alright
I'm going to be just fine
one down five billion to go
am I next in line
and do I really want to know?
look who's laughing now
I'll pull it off somehow
as I passed her by
I could see her cry
and I'll never forget the look
that was in her eye
and the music you know it played
on & on & on
so will somebody tap her
on the shoulder
tell her life goes on
I still remember that night
it was the fourth of July
it's still engraved in my mind
and I'm not surprised
gang wars no guns hand to hand
you're black I'm white

This was my summer as an adolescent. I still remember I had a closet door wall that all my friends used to write on, and one of the stand outs was [Summer 2004 was the shit] that was when I saw Catch 22, Streetlight, Reel Big Fish and RX Bandits in the same summer. Ahh to be young.
Ska will never die.
After years and years, these tracks always picks me right up.
mush love
yes byyye
this be me reply
Picks you up while you, "pick it up"
still hasent died
@@jakeparker2344 Not gonna die as long as I live brother
sick bass in here man!
thumbs up for both catch 22 and SM
as far as the catch 22 v street light debate- i have to say this is far better. the recording quality on street light is better, but when catch recorded this album they put their hearts on their sleeves and thats what makes this album great. with street light they were just to concerned with making the recording sound better, but it doesnt feel better.
This song rules!!
The bass player has a set of 15 more fingers
Exactly! The Streetlight Keasbey Nights just never did it for me the way the Catch 22 version did, but at the same time Streetlight's songs are just amazing (e.g. Mephisto's Cafe, We Will Fall Together etc.)
This song is so awesome. I just want to dance and dance when the trombones start at the beginning.
Up to 19, love this bassline.
AWESOME! Catch 22 is the BEST!
..love the bass..these ska songs are so full of them. i love it!
lol ok so im listenin to this while studyinn nd as soon as it got to 2:13 i realized tht commenting on this song's awesomness is MANDATORY
A Moment of Silence...nice job.
These people throw such a fantastic show.
thanks for posting i missed this song.
These lyrics are beautiful
:ooo:
This song inspired me to learn trumpet!!!!!!! Thx catch 22!
i think this was my favorite catch 22 song... 10 or so years ago... wow.
Catch 22 is great. I feel that they had a lot more fun making the album rather than streetlights version of the album. Which makes it better in my opinion
THIS IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!
woaw!!! thes musik was used in eddzworld competion this year (2008 if ur dum LOOOOLZZ..)
Nice version of pachelbel's Canon!!!Keep it up!!
gotta love this
oh, i didnt knew that.. thx for the enlightenment
true. then again, op ivy penned this frantic sound a very very long time ago....
i want this song at my funeral.
Tomas Kalnoky writes the catchiest solos ever...Catch 22/Keasbey Nights and Streetlight Manifesto, all 3 albums.
I love this solo, but the one in the SLM cover is pretty amazing as well (and it sounds like it takes tons of skill; sorry, don't play an instrument here, but it sounds like it'd be very difficult to copy)
haha ill be watching these dudes up in plymouth tonight
que buen tema!
this is good music this remind me by summer
However I think his first songwriting was when he was 9 (Mrs. Butterworth's Indestructible Bombshelter which he went on to write with his band when he was 15 [Gimp])...the song is on CZcams, and it's really catchy actually.
well even if you consider that a possibility, its still not possible because if he wrote these songs when he was 14, more (or most) of them would have been on smiles for macavity, which he released when he was 15. instead, "supernothing" was the only song from keasby that was originally released on smiles for macavity.
game, set, match. but it's still amazing that he could write a song like supernothing at the age of 15
MILK IN A SHOE TIME? -Tom.
He's just a freaking genius.
Tomas Kalnoky was the leader singer for catch 22 when they made keasbey nights, then he left and joined streetlight. Catch now has a new lead singer.
Exactly. Oddly enough, "Big D and the Kid's Table" is the only Ska band my BROTHER likes. For me, it's Catch22.
I wish they played it this fast in concert
Maybe it's just because I heard the Catch 22 Keasbey Nights before I heard the Streetlight Manifesto Keasbey Nights, but I like this album a lot more. It's a mixture of Tomas's gritty vocals, lo-fi sound, and just this really garage/punk quality.
Don't get me wrong, this band hasn't really done anything good since Keasbey Nights and Streetlight Manifesto has been my favorite band since the end of 2006.
Good quality.
when i need pick me up music.. i just auto turn on ska
+Sharter189 truth
These guys are the ONLY Ska band I will listen to. I LOVE Catch 22!
Hooray I am the most recent comment on this beautiful song! :D
fking awesome, kinda reminds me of streetlight
aaaah too fast haha gotta love it!
the saddest thing is that I can't hear this song without tomas voice
This is Kalnoky
This was the only album he did with Catch
i like both. they are equal to me
Live life.
Nineteen people going off & off & off :p
No problem, just spreadin the word.
Guess 27 people can't hear the bassline.
The youtube audio preview sounds just like the voice at the end of 1234, 1234.
...they dont.
theres just the huge catch vs streetlight debate, which i personally hate, because they are both AWESOME BANDS
kk gracias :)
i think thats because streetlight is the "new" catch 22
so its reasonable their songs had evolved
but anyway, this is also a great version, and i like them both
i like the faster tempo
Canon in :D
Well when Kalnoky was in Catch he used grittier, "punkier" vocals. He's refined his vocal style a lot.
all of the origional songs that were writen by catch22 in my opinion are sung better by catch22 then the newer remake of streetlights. I do love streetlights songs, but i love these songs..from catch22 by catch22
yes.
@TBKSKA
your absolutely right but its still a great song
he wrote it when he was fourteen. explain "Kristina she don't know i exist" then. That songs about remembering his high school days. and i don't know too many people who graduate high school when their fourteen
magici i vecchi catch 22
@os101King - mingus did not write the bass line or play the bass in this recorded version...this is the original recording from "Keasbey Nights" which JOSH ANSELY played bass on - the entire album....he played a fretless bass which is badass and sounds smooth..
I had a great converstaion with tomas and Josh in florida in 2005 before a streetlight show...josh said his actual passion was acting - mostly plays and how on stage he taps into that from the beginning to the end of a show..
Because Streetlight redid the material to that Catch 22 record. So people get the covers mixed up.
I think the lyrics are way better in this version than the Streetlight version. (less mumbled) but to each his own
@jekoismusicrib lol nice call i heard that circle of fifths and i was like hmm familiar
the 7 people that disliked this must of have missed the "like" button..
Could anybody tell me the name of that great instrumental Catch 22 song with kick ass bass? I've been looking for it for days,
es otro pedooe sta cancionnnnnn:3
CATCH 22 KICKS ASS!!
To all those people that think streetlight is better than Catch, you are severly mistaken
@mizakintero Hahaha, I thought I was the only one who thought that :D
True but catch 22 is still around they just have a different lead singer now, the styles different but they are still making music.
oh ja
I started kindergarten when I was 4...
I first listened to this song back in 1998 in kindergarten lol..since then ive basically grown up with catch and ive actually only known about streetlight for a year or so. When I heard the streetlight version of this song, I kinda wanted to puke. I mean it's like that live cover flyleaf did of smells like teen spirit. You know, the one that made you cringe and curl up into a ball and cry.
2:30 and beyond = WIN
sad, but true. If they hate him so much, then they should stop singing his songs. I made reference! !!!1!1!
Was this the band that geoff Ramsey was a rodie for
@giggipop very very true
nice if they have reggae tooons its the shit
i really hope so
Well, close...he's wrong. He wrote 5 of the Keasbey songs when he was 16 (on the EP along with 2 songs you've never heard outside of that EP; both great songs) and then recorded the actual Keasbey Nights album when he was 18.
Oops...I am talking about the wrong video - I meant the muted trumpet in This One Goes Out To...
I'm pretty sure the bass solo in this is the same as SLM's.
Keasbey Nights isn't Catch 22, It's Tom's child, which he wrote when he was 14. Some time after he left Catch (and took their talent, frankly), the remaining Catch 22 members wanted to release a remastering of Keasbey Nights. Tom was like "fuck no, that's my album" and he and Streetlight re-recorded the whole thing.
Canon in D Major, okay?
Thanks.
and god damn, I remember being the first to comment on this when it had like 100 views.
@7duckydo7 Thanks for replying! Thing is, I don't listen to much Ska. I like
Punk Rock/Alternative/Metal. I listen to more bands like Tool, Avenged Sevenfold, Seether, and Alkaline Trio. I tried listening to a band named "Big D and the Kid's Table" or something like that. Didn't like them much o.o; . Thanks for replying!
if you want to make a hit song...use pachelbels canon's melody...you can never be wrong =)
someone heard a song called “more than friend/catch22”
they are one of my favorite bands but don't read into that.
too late I already read it
I feel blind while watching this XD
Normally I like Streetlight better but I think that his song suits Catch 22 better...
are you thinking of Riding the Fourth Wave?
@93 listen to pennywise when you feel this way...makes you feel a lot better ;) take care
@jonnybravo2525 The man provided the music and lyrics, if you really care about the pic just look up the album cover on an image search while tabbing the song.
