If the palace was so distressed over Diana's death why was there no mention of her passing at Crathie Church the morning following her death? It was the only church in the United Kingdom where prayers were not offered for her soul. Even Prince Harry asked his father, "Are you sure Mummy's dead?"

yes donna! not mentioning diana's death at church was the first of many mistakes made by the queen no matter what her intention was. that week in 1997, the queen got a serious reality check, the likes of which she had never probably seen before. it must have been quite an awakening for her.
Poor Diana. She would have been better off finding a more "serious" person; I don't believe she and Dodi were a good match. Hasnat would have been better for Diana, or if not him, someone equally intellectual.

If the Queen had have issued statements each day explaining why she felt she should stay in Balmoral and issuing words of support to the general public, this might have eased the tension. The silence was totally wrong move by the royal family, sadly their staff were too scared to advise them otherwise.
Even at Diana’s death, she challenged the royal family. She won there too.
