    Hey bro, love this toturial.
    But how do you play that high note on 2:10?

    • @MZguitar
      @MZguitar  Před 3 lety +2

      Thanks man!
      That high note on 2:10 is played using a pinch harmonic!
      There are many videos on that technique and I've made one myself a while back: czcams.com/video/OuUqePIc-Zk/video.html
      Short version is that you'd want to graze the string with the flesh of your thumb after picking it to produce this sound. Where your right hand is located also affects which harmonic note you hit.

    We covered this song like aaages ago and our bass player hated to play it... this 0-1-5 stretch always gave him a stroke. Great tutorial though.

      This song in general, gave me multiple strokes as well.

      @@MZguitar What parts did you struggle the most with? If I remember correctly, the pre-solo harmony was the trickiest to learn because the index finger moved so quickly to the next fret and the intervals were different in almost every bar.
      Besides that, it took some practice to get those 16th notes on the C string tight without sounding mushy but that is just part of playing metal stuff on this beautiful instrument.
      I wish I'd have the motivation to record/cover this song too but daaamn, am I a lazy person.
      Do you have other songs of AILD? I'm also very fond of "Anger and Apathy", pretty easy song and that verse riff is so insanely fun to play.
      And thanks for the reply =)

    Is the intro riff all downpicking ? Or is it up on the 5 and down on the 0?

    • @MZguitar
      @MZguitar  Před 3 lety +1

      Well, ultimately, you can play it in whatever way works for you. However, I can say from experience that most of the time down-picking will give your the cleanest and tightest sound despite it being more tiring (which you can adapt to) and that is true in this case. The only thing I don't down-pick is the measure at the end that starts with 0 1 5.

    bro, what strings size U use for this song?

    • @MZguitar
      @MZguitar  Před 2 měsíci

      I'm tuned to Drop D, but guitar is pitch shifted, so the string size I used myself is a lot lighter than what someone would need to play in Drop C.
      My recommendation for Drop C for this song would be something with an 11 or a 12 on top and something with a 52,54,or a 56 on the bottom.
      All of these can work, but ultimately some of this is preference and you'll have to see what works best for you.

  • @thatguy843764
    @thatguy843764 Před rokem

    So its all down picked?

    • @MZguitar
      @MZguitar  Před rokem

      I assume you mean specifically the intros.
      In the intros, I down pick the parts with the palm mutes and use alternate strokes for the fills at the end of the riffs.
      You don't have to fully down pick those parts. An alternative would be to go for a down up pattern. Starting on an upstroke is not advised as it won't work well.

  • @yuridanylko
    @yuridanylko Před 3 lety

    2:38 anybody know how to stop my guitar leaking so kuch noise? Even palm mute there is still a muted ring.

    • @MZguitar
      @MZguitar  Před 3 lety

      What's your left hand doing?
      When palm muting any open string (a 0) , you need to use your left hand to gently grab the strings higher than it that are not being played to mute them.
      In this case, when I'm chugging the 0 on the 6th string and 0 on the 5th string, I have my left hand on all the other strings to make sure they don't make any noise.
      When there is a rest (nothing is supposed to being played), I put my left hand on ALL the strings to mute everything.
      At the end, when only the 6th string is being palm muted, I keep my left hand on all the other strings whenever 0 is being palm muted.
      You can see me doing this with my left hand in the demonstrations and the slow with tabs sections.
