Bad Games in Good Series. Your DMC2, Dragon Age 2's. From the 80s to now with the PS5! It's not too uncommon for a gaming franchise with a lot of prestige to accidentally end up with a stinker, and that's exactly what this is about. Is this an excuse for me to talk about Phantasy Star? Maybe??

Supposidely, Pokemon Battle Revolution was going to have a single player portion like Colosseum and Gale of Darkness and much more content, as well as a full rentable roster of the 493 critters just like Stadium 1 & 2 did, but were told to scrap most of those features to reach somewhere close to the launch window of the Diamond and Pearl games.

There is a huge reason why Phantasy Star 3 is a black sheep. It was developed by an entirely different team of devs just brought in to quickly hammer out the project in 6 months, with just the same producer/director as before. It was originally a bunch of mini stories that they strung together into a narrative..

And he replied, "yes". Took it home got happy happy when both the game and demo worked, then got disappointed when I realized of the quality of their respective contents, eventually got an old beaten up double disc case for it and have in the colllection, well, since I really dig characters like Samus, Sarah Bryant and Rachel from NG/DOA, guess I have a thing for tall, blonde and gorgeous kickass women, just saying.

Sucks to see Pokemon Battle Revolution on this list because for what it was designed for, it did really well. As a way to take your guys from Pokemon Diamond/Pearl and then battle online and make a custom avatar, complete with fashion, it was fantastic. Also it was great for training and making legal competitive Pokemon because you could earn items and TMs that were unobtainable via the DS games alone. Battle Revolution's online battles were also much smoother than the DS online connections, and it looked great, sounded great, ran great, and had a catchy soundtrack that I still use for some ringtones.
I never liked the Gamecube Pokemon RPGs because of their characters and world I didn't care for/slow pacing and slow battling/everything taking forever because every battle being a double battle, so when it was cut out and condensed back into just battling in Battle Revolution, I was more than happy. Plus they sped the animations up in battles and made it all have a sleek presentation that worked really well with the Wiimote and interface. Also I'm pretty sure the game retailed for less than a regular MSRP Wii game?
I mean, the game's title is "Battle Revolution" - it's exactly what it set out to do. If you're judging it based on other titles, might as well include the Gamecube Pokemon Box Ruby & Sapphire in this list for just being a glorified Pokemon storage system that requires both a GBA and an expensive Gamecube/GBA Link Cable 🤷‍♀🤷‍♀🤷‍♀

I don’t know why Death Degrees get so much hate, it’s a good game. Was it something new? Yes, was it a weird fighting system? Yes the analog to be used to do combos was odd but manageable. At the time of launch it wasn’t worth it, but these days it a unique beat em up with weird controls that’s still decent. At least it’s better final fight street wise lol.

Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness was one of the worst JRPGs I've ever had the displeasure of playing.

I think one thing it deserves some credit for is having the entire party in battles. That's something I want more RPGs to take a crack at.

Yooooo!!!! I also have a huge amount of nostalgia for lost planet. I feel like the second game got judged for bugs if I remember right. Still one of the most satisfying third person shooters I've played.

God, I remember when Capcom was in that awful funk in the 7th gen. But they really seemed to snap out of it with a ton of games for series that we thought were dead at the time. I'm still so glad we got Capcom back on the good list.
