With zero swing assist the gameplay movement looks a lot controlled and Spiderman moves according to the direction his webs stick. He moves according to the environment. With full web assist the momentum won't be lost and your direction won't change by the direction your webs attach
I do think they make the animations realistic and I did see the web of shadows web swinging . It’s just cooler or has more style and the web of shadow the web shooting is comic like.

I think it’s because they don’t weigh the same. Remember in the first game Miles had to tweak the web-shooters.
