wtf....thats a sculpture from my school right at the beginning....wait, that is my school. wait, gojira is recording near my school?!!! WHERE ARE YOU!?
Wow.... A true band that sets themselves a part from the majority of Metal bands. Love that "Gojira" sound.. especially when they decide to bring the H E A V Y
Mario plays on that steel door and it was being recorded. Not able to find that sound in L'Enfant Sauvage. Can anyone hear that in the album anywhere?.
Mario is not the first to do it. John Bonham's drums for "When The Levee Breaks" were recorded in a stairwell with the microphones planted 3 stories up for the natural reverb.
I seriously get on the website all day, check facebook, google search at every opportunity. im too pumped for this! 10 days until the single comes out!
The ideas that this band possess, are so raw & innovative. I mean, no other drummer would go to the lengths of setting up mics in an abandoned stairwell to create natural reverb. Simply put. That right there makes them one of the greatest metal acts of today. Don't you agree?
The last 30 seconds reminded me somehow on "Metropolis". Whatever, I'm fucking stoked to hear the new album! And Mario was funny, drumming on the door xD. I believe it will make it on the Album as an Intro or something.
@lucjicare (not that it's the first time I had to think on Voivod when listening to a Gojira tune. Positive for Gojira is that by all influences you might hear in their music, they are a unit in its own. If you love original music, you must love Gojira. )
...conversely, John Bonham wanted to replicate the recording sound techniques Mick Tucker (drummer of The Sweet) was using for their '75 album "Give Us A Wink" (recorded by Mack... later snatched away by Queen). So you'll never know who was the original behind inventive techniques. All those drummers are gods like Mario has become as well now.
@1:02 OMG, audio-technica ATH-m50 (headphones in the back), i was listening this video thru my ath-m50 and i so those and i was like "fuck yea, now im gonna take care of these with my freaking soul"
No I'm not a big name in the business, I'm just anybody. You did not precise in your comment he didn't do that for the drums. I have a signed 'possessed' demo from Gojira, when they were still called Godzilla, you want it? Gimme any adress I'll send it to you
You have obviously never heard of Led Zeppelin, John Bonham, or the song "When The Levee Breaks". "...recorded by engineer Andy Johns by placing Bonham and a new Ludwig drumkit at the bottom of a stairwell at Headley Grange, and recording it using two Beyerdynamic M160 microphones at the top..." So no, I don't agree. Gojira is good, but the "innovative" technique you described has been done before.
Oh man, you just threw information at me that I already knew. Considering what you just told me, I am sure you are a big name in the business. Let me just tell you something brotha, labeling yourself isn't helping your argument. Anybody can be a sound engineer nowadays... ...By the way, I don't know what you're trying to prove to me, Mario did not set up his drum set in that stairwell. He was creating ambient sound with a metal door, not natural reverb for his drum set.
These guys have so much fun in the studio and on stage, other metal bands should take a page from their book.

If you was waiting at the bus stop with Mario, and he had his drum sticks, you know it'd be the funnest waiting at a bus stop ever!
heaviest tele i've heard!
Yes absoulutely. Gojira is the best Metal Band ever! :D
Best band in the world. It doesn't get much better than Gojira.
Mario is not the first to do it. John Bonham's drums for "When The Levee Breaks" were recorded in a stairwell with the microphones planted 3 stories up for the natural reverb.
can't wait! it's great!
I seriously get on the website all day, check facebook, google search at every opportunity. im too pumped for this! 10 days until the single comes out!

Gojira videos are so trippy...
John Bonham did it when he recorded "When the Levee Breaks" back in the early 70's... but yeah I agree, the Drummer for Gojira is pretty sick.
1:05 awesome
You are not the only one !...cool shite !
@TheMetalSupporter Yeah, I was wandering too...
THE AXE
1:12 ... Holy SHIIIT!
am i the only person that checks the website twice a day and gets giddy when there is news?

Gojira resurrected death metal just so they could KILL it
Telecaster metal!
@metalhos which voivod - song do you mean?
if there are more riffs in the world similar to this one.. I want to possess them all!! ;)
I FORGOT TO WRITE "I" BEFORE "AM"
@lucjicare
it's rather the sound of the guitar than the riff itself. makes me think of Dimension Hatröss.
@1:02 OMG, audio-technica ATH-m50 (headphones in the back), i was listening this video thru my ath-m50 and i so those and i was like "fuck yea, now im gonna take care of these with my freaking soul"
@stepli85 not the only one
did that part make it on the album? couldn't find it

@corsept777 Yep c'est ce que je dis, je crois qu'on est nombreux en France à être accro !
Do a tour with Devin Townsend gyys!
1:07 - do i smell some voivod inspiration?
To replace them for new ones. :P
@jonajon91 im THE EXACT SAME WAY. Haven't went a day in years without listening to Gojira lol
@jonajon91 am i the only person that checks this video daily just to listen to that riff (1:38)?
Who produced this?
@Krazeel lol this isn't death metal... but its definitely a Progressive style of metal
@jonajon91 with me there are 42 human. cheers!
@jonajon91 no, you're not :)
1:12 what song is that? Sounds like the end of L'Enfaunt but way heavier
Ramadon Steve yes, its the outro of l’enfant sauvage
In other words: chug.
Come to discover SHERKAN, a french band between korn, system of a down, slipknot and deftones on our page !
Drummers for as long as there have been recorded drummers have done outlandish things to capture drums sounds in the studio. Just saying.
Where's Christian and Jean-Michel?
Starting at about 0:40 ...that guy... Please tell me that isn't joe with extremely short hair.. I couldn't tell..
needs more cowbell
Mario marry me
Led Zepplin recorded drums like this 30 years ago
riff at 1:05 made me pee all over myself
Dude this is from a long time ago but they finally released that song it’s called “Inferno”
Not true... But the last band that had that dedication was Led Zeppelin...
@jonajon91 nop
@jonajon91 You're really not ! Haha
No I'm not a big name in the business, I'm just anybody. You did not precise in your comment he didn't do that for the drums. I have a signed 'possessed' demo from Gojira, when they were still called Godzilla, you want it? Gimme any adress I'll send it to you
