My grandmother used to,have swelled ankles, and her cure was a simple one and it worked. She took raw parsley and cut it up fine, and put it in a saucer of cold water beside the sink, so everytime she was t the sink she used to,eat a little bit of raw parsley and over the day this would have mounted up. Her swelled ankles disappeared, and she was never troubled with them. This is easy for anyone who wants to try it and it can't do you any harm. Greetings from Northern Ireland.

I had really bad Swollen Feet and Ankles yesterday so I read to use Epsom salt and Apple cider vinegar, I took about 1 cup of Epsom salt and added about a half a cup of Apple cider vinegar and put them in a bucket of warm water I soaked my feet & ankles for about 20 minutes and following that I put my feet in icy cold water for a couple of minutes ( by icy water i just added a few cubes of ice in 2nd foot soak bucket) then I went to bed with 2 huge pillows for under my feet, I woke up this morning and 80% of the Swelling was gone! I also took Lasix earlier that day 20mgs twice, but when I was only taking Lasix without the 2 foot soaks I didn't see much difference in my Edema/ foot & ankle swelling. Hope this helps someone else who might be having the same problem.

So my left ankle and foot was swollen for a while...it would go down a little when I elevated it. One day I decided to stop eating sugar and bread products (love bagels) and start drinking lemon and ginger tea first thing in the morning...within 24 hours the swelling disappeared. So far so good...

When this happens to me I just drink large amounts of water with lemon juice. It is such a relief when the fluids start to get dispelled. Having your feet higher than your head is also important.

Really wonderful tips and I'm going to be adding these to a pedicure regimen I'm devising for a friend with terribly swollen feet.
This is what I plan to do:
    1. The warm and cold water alternating bath soak, but I'll be adding the Epsom Salt.
    2. Apple Cider Vinegar foot soak with either eucalyptus or lavender oil.
    3. Turmeric, Ginger, Coconut Oil, Honey, Organic Brown Rice Flour and Egg foot mask
    4. Baking Soda and Brown Rice Flour foot scrub.
    5. Olive and Ginger Oil foot massage.
I've also made for her (and myself) a Turmeric tea with the Turmeric, Ginger, Organic Raw Neem Honey, Pepper, Ghee Butter, Coconut Oil, Apple Cider Vinegar, Purified Water and Coconut Milk.
It's really delicious! I'm thinking of adding ground almonds to it as well.
Thank you for this video because it helped me nail down exactly what I'm going to do for her.

Those are all great preventative and curative actions but I would like to add one more---check with your doctor if you are on blood pressure medications. I was on one kind that caused my feet and ankles to look like this picture and thought that it was strictly because I was on my feet for long hours at work, and had high blood pressure. As soon as I changed to another antihypertensive medication, my edema went away almost totally. So, please check with your medication too, if you are on a heart med. Dottie RN

My feet used to get that bad. I'd cry and cry the pain was a hot burning sensation. I was very close to 300lbs! It's not as simple as eat better. Most of us eat due to negotiate emotions /thoughts. I found a therapist who helped me greatly. It wasn't easy, at all and it took me years. Understanding why one over eats helps us to get it under control for the rest of our lives. This video has such helpful suggestions. TY!! I have just gotten down to 204 with a goal of 140-160 by December 2017. Please if you know someone who is morbidity obese hug them, reassure them they are lovable. Telling them they are fat in a cortical tone will only make it worse. Be there to care, listen, don't bring them junk food! ! If you are one carrying excess pounds please ask your Dr for help. I know they have hurt u with such words, but they will turn out to be a strong hand. Wearing compression socks when I fly makes all the difference. TY for this video. Many real and helpful suggestions.

FYI.....if anyone has foot and leg swelling, please get checked for a condition called Lymphedema. It is a condition that is from damaged lymph nodes. I was born with it, has nothing to do with diet. Please get checked. This could also be a sign of an underlying heart condition, which can lead to congestive heart failure. Please get these things checked out first to see if it is one of these 2 conditions. If not, then, try these home remedies.

I think it might be confusing for people who dont understand the physiology of edema; you say use ginger as it is deuretic and hen use dandelion as it helps absorb the body extra fludis. Its important to understand that "absorb the fluid" is refered to absorbing the extravascular fluids to the intravescular normal blood flow which from there the blood is filtered in the kidneys and thats the deuretic part that we DO want. Edema is not ordinary fluid concentration in body parts. its fluids that went out of the vascular system and the lymph nodes do not filter well...

Swelling can indicate heart problem but not necessarily......good to check this out with dr first before self medicating or following advice from complete strangers like this. I have had swelling of feet and had myself thoroughly checked out by heart specialist as a result of dr referral. Heart is ok so I put myself on celery seed capsule and found this made a huge difference.....helped get rid of excess fluid from feet and legs. Am now having acupuncture for leg circulation along with massage and am hoping this will lessen my need for support stockings especially in summer when they are too hot to wear! Also need to lose weight......it's a work in progress! ☺

    • @luminair11
      @luminair11 Před 7 lety +3

After having above treatments found that I didn't have to wear support stockings during our most unbearably hot summer here in Australia. Also celery seed still works and I wouldn't be without it. Take 250mg tablets two twice a day with meals and anything stronger for me is too strong. Buy my tabs from Chemist Wharehouse in Australia as I've found it's too hard to get this low dosage from other health food shops or chemists.

This is happening to me but it happens to my left foot only. I was 264lbs (100lbs overweight) and prediabetic. My Dr said to lose the 100lbs, cut out salt/sugar/fat/meat/spinach/mushrooms/green beans and drink 100 ounces of water per day. I cut out all the things she said, I drink about 70 ounces of water daily, and I lost 60lbs and not one thing had changed. Actually the swelling has spread to my toes and up my leg that is now so numb. Went to the Dr and she said my soft tissue is swollen but no gout and no arthritis in that area. I exercise daily and 5 of those days I workout I do it for 2 hours and a lot of cardio. I gave up coffee, soda, and tea as well. I soak my feet daily, use ice, elevate when I can, eliminated grease/oil and i massage my foot with shea butter. I have also developed black bruises that came out of nowhere onthe same leg. I can still walk but I have a limp. I feel like I am dying slowly. I am 38 and a female. It takes everything I have in me to go to work, cook, clean, take care of a child and an idiot husband who is so helpless I want to scream. I don't know what to do and have given up. Being in constant pain is making me suicidal

People. I will tell you 100% get back beautiful feets in one night. I tried it.
      You will need:
      0,3 kg soda powder
      2 pars off big socks
Plastic wrap roll or shop bags
Hot water one glass (300 grams) +/-
      Bowl
      Before going sleep at night:
Take big bowl put in 0,3kg soda(soda powder not baking powder),add glass off hot boiling water(soda will react with hot water), mix it a bit, then cool down bit so you can touch it.
Now take 1 par off sucks and dip in concentrated soda water. Take out and squeeze out excess water a bit.
      Wear on your feets.
Then take plastic roll or plastic bags and wrap your feets. (So your bed not become wet)
Then take another bigger socks and wear on top off wrap. Now go to sleep.
In the morning(rinse legs in warm water no soap needed). Don't be scared to see feets and sucks in white powder it's just soda - rinse it off now) You will be surprised to see perfect feets with no exess water or swelling. Soda will pull out toxins and exess water will go away. You might even not recognize your feets in first second.
      I did this . It's really effective.
P.s. you also can do same for lower body wrap. Help with swelling and cellulite.(but it's hard to sleep like that plus you need to remember leave hole for bathroom needs so you need to cut legging s)

On a recent trip to Italia, my favorite place in the world, I was miserably edematous. I even took one day mid touring to stay in bed and keep my feet up. It only helped a bit, but my legs and feet would immediately swell again. On top of that I even got nasty blisters on the first day of walking in Fiorenza. It was awful. But I muscled through, fell twice and still made it on my own without my hubby.

As an operating theatre nurse my self and colleagues wear anti-embolic socks (compression socks) as we work 12 hour shifts. For some antiquated reason sitting in theatre is considered bad practice!!?? we've never known why it just is. I suffer from swollen feet on a regular basis, I can recall one trip to Rome i'd forgotten to take my anti-embolic socks with me. I usually wear them for flying and for the first few nights after I arrive. I wear them overnight. However in Rome it was awful I felt as though I had 3 litres of water inside my feet and unto my knees!! The only thing I could do was to put a couple of books under the base of the bed so my feet were elevated at night, this helped a lot. I also tell others when flying long haul, if your not in business class, go to the toilet when it's a quite time on the flight (for example not when everyone is queuing to use the toilet. Put the toilet lid down and sit on it, then put your feet up on the door to rest them, make sure you elevate them above your hips. Just sitting like this for 5 minutes can make your feet feel 10 times better, even if your wearing compression leggings!. Another tip is if your in hospital and having surgery quite often the surgeon or anaesthetist wants their patients to have anti-embolic stockings, either full length or knee length. As they will be measured to fit you, take them home after and keep for use on holidays or travelling. The hospital ones do have a hole just under the toes, this is because during the surgery the anaesthetist may need to put another intravenous cannula and may use your foot, or they may want to be able to see that your foot is a healthy pink colour. If I use my anti-embolic socks while sleeping, I just tie the hole bit into knot, otherwise when travelling the hole comes in handy if I'm wearing flip flops! I hope if anyone reads this it has been helpful.

The cause of all ills is always diet and lifestyle. Humans's digestive tracts are 98 percent like primates. We should be eating strictly raw fruit and raw fruitlike vegetables with seeds and tender leafy greens. Those foods are all alkaline. Instead we are lied to and told we are omnivores and a "healthful" diet is supposed to include meat, dairy and grains. That is a BIG LIE. We are NOT omnivores. We are the only species that is as sick as we are. Other species that eat diets appropriate for their species don't get sick like we do. We need to start taking responsibility for our own health; eat a diet of mostly raw fruit and raw vegetables and stop listening to the medical profession!

keto or carnivore diet worked for me. I was developing congestive heart failure and had a fatty liver. And have some salt. The sicker I got the more salt I needed. Who is smarter then a goldfish with dropsy? low salt causes poor stomach acid production = poor digestion = poor blood chemistry (low bicarbonate production) = poor mineral absorption and metabolization.

Contrast baths should never be used when oedema is present. Only cold therapy should be used if you are going to use it at all. The effect of heat is that is causes hyperaemia which is an increase in bloodflow. In addition, the heat increases the permeability of the of the blood vessel wall leading to blood plasma 'escaping' from the vessel. It is this that manifests as swelling.

Thanks for the tip on ginger, Trader Joes sells dried ginger, I have some on hand and will try it right now. Also for the info on dandelion.
A couple things that I use to control edema in my hands are turmeric and Essiac. Turmeric will desiccate the fluid out of your tissues right away. Essiac is a formula sourced from American indians, it's a compound of three different herbs found in North America and it's dynamite for stimulating the lymphatic system to evacuate interstitial fluid. It can be purchased from any good health food store or as a tea online. I only use it once a week on Friday evenings because it makes me a little loopy in the brain department.
I have gout and have to watch out for purines. If I have even a little beef my feet will swell and become extremely painful. The edema in my hands is entirely different and responds to common remedies. When my feet swell, nothing works, I just have to wait it out.

Its a nice Vid, and the effort is commendable. However, some of the comments below are more helpful and accurate. Swollen feet is a symptom of more serious condition of the heart and Kidney system. One should immediately focus on strengthening those organs and restoring its functions. The Ginger mentioned and magnesium are probably the only 2 that will really contribute to the recovery of the underlying issue. Warm water soaks ( with whatever) is helpful too but never with the ice / cold water. Focus on rebuilding the heart and kidney system and you will see the swelling goes down without you having to do any of these suggested in the video. You may get the swelling down with these, but you will surely find them returning the next day or in a little as 30 mins. The problem is indeed rather serious, please seek professional help ( alternative preferred ) and do not waste more time before the damage becomes irreversible.

I've had some excellent result in bringing down swelling of the feet and ankles by eating pineapple at least once or twice a day. The 'bromelain' in the fruit is mostly concentrated in the central stem and can be eaten for maximum effect. You can often extract juice from the portion discarded for storing in the refrigerator and drinking in between meals. When attending a banquet or eating a heavy meal, pineapple along with papaya are the fruits of choice. In pregnancy, allergy and clotting of blood treatment the fruit should be avoided. Better to consult a nutritionist and doctor in such cases.

I'm going to try three ginger teas daily and the epsom salt soaks. Soon I will have access to a lap pool, and though I can't swim, I will use a facemask, snorkle, and flippers and should do well with them. 30 minutes swimming per day plus a 30 minute bike ride should really help, I hope.
BTW, who is the narrator of this video ... I'm in love with her voice?

I just found out that I have Pitted Edema as well, but I got rid of it !!! and I am healthier then I have ever been in my life and here is how you do it ;) My Edema got very bad just like in the video here....I was crying trying to figure out what had happened to me, I am a body builder and very lean with lots of muscles and veins everywhere, extremely cut up, I am always paying attention to my body and I came to the conclusion it was the food I was eating, and sugar I was drinking, all of the food we eat is bad for us, examples are sugar, pasta, carbohydrates, salt, sodium, meat, processed foods, fast food, pizza, bread, etc. anything that is packaged or high carbohydrates or calories, salt, sodium, etc. is basically poison to us, so I switched my diet to vegetarian but I get my protein from sources like RED POTATOES, YELLOW POTATOES, BEANS, RICE, FRUITS AND VEGETABLES AND NUTS ETC.. as meat is bad for our bodies,I also eat , cauliflower, broccoli, bananas, asparagus, lentyls, and many other foods are what I eat now, all of which foods that reduce swelling and inflammation and cleanse the body, and are also cancer preventing foods as well as many other benefits and my Edema is totally gone and my body has never looked this good in my life, my skin was transformed in 3 days and all of the swelling is completely gone, I am bursting with energy and my body looks and feels better then It ever has, I had to tell everyone about this who is suffering from Edema, if you watch everything you eat and eat vegetables and fruits and GET A JUICER AND USE THAT INSTEAD OF DRINKING FLORIDE IN THE WATER...AND DRINK DISTILLED WATER ONLY ... AND your whole life will change for the better quickly, Hope this helps someone out there who is suffering from this horrible sickness ..... ;) much love to all of you ;)

    • @jimlotus7889
      @jimlotus7889 Před 7 lety +7

Im not sure about that but I am sure you can look up each food and make sure it has the iron you need... but I think we get enough iron from natural foods and do not need added iron to our foods so yes I think if you stick to a healthy diet and LOOK UP each food that you eat on the internet to see how good it is for you.. and if it has what you need in it .. I get plenty of everything I need naturally from the foods I mentioned :)
