    A nice walk into Morley turns sour when I try film the toys in British Heart Foundation and B&M (not that there is any) in shocking scenes. By far the worst experience I’ve had while doing the toy hunts over the years and it just getting worse. I don’t want to resort to underhand filming techniques, I shouldn’t have to, filming toys isn’t evil.
    See the different attitudes between the stores who asked (or told) me to stop filming.
    This one is a real eye opener.

      I think your best bet would be to ask for permission up front. Obviously that runs the risk of them saying no, but if you're polite about it and explain that your focus is on stock rather than people, they should be happier. There will almost certainly be people who would legitimately not expect to be filmed by another member of the public while shopping, and the shop workers would probably be within their rights to ask you not to film on private premises. I suspect there isn't an inherent right to do so. It's a data protection issue primarily - shops are obliged to tell you if they're recording you for that reason, but you can avoid that issue by making it clear you're just filming the stock. All this assumes that the staff concerned are reasonably well informed of course. Equally, they may well have policies in place that could change. It might be worth you enquiring of their Twitter channels what their policies are, then you could show the responses if challenged. Only other option would be to film in short bursts, then slow it down and do a voiceover for us?

      @ExcelsiorsDomain yes I know the law about filming, I read my rights in every venture I partake in. The fact that I’ve filmed in there without issue for over 4 years and the usual staff know me means that I don’t ask for permission. Her attitude was the main point, on both instances I had finished filming but carried on because of the encounters. People come up to the camera and tell you not to film them, that’s their mentality, they’re the main characters in their story.
      Yes as I said in the video I did email both companies while I was in the cafe, both have responded in different ways which I’ll discuss on my livestream. Filming in short bursts doesn’t change the fact that I’m filming and I’ve got expensive microphones so I don’t have to have the extra work of a voice over, which is counterproductive, I like to react in real time, making it real for the viewers. Thank you for your points Andy 👍🏻

    Tell them you are not filming, but doing a video call for a friend to show him what is on the shelves. If you have a giant film camera, its easier to get away with it, if you hold it under your arm and turn off the viewfinder red light, and say you are just shopping... I used to do this all the time and no one ever said anything... The moment the camera went on my shoulder, then everyone gets paranoid.

    bro, you best be careful there. if they get too much out of hand, you could end up being arrested. but, got news for you, in the usa, it is required by law that any shop has to have a sign on their doors or storefront window that clearly states, no filming allowed. if these places are not displaying anything saying as such. then, you will need to make it clear to them.

    Is this happening all over the UK now? Because no one had stopped me yet but this seems to be a running theme for you unfortunately. A lot of places seem to be enforcing this and I just can’t understand why. Aren’t shops used to being filmed these days? What do they think we do on CZcams? It’s very bizarre.

    Hi from Dublin maybe the right to do is build up a relationship with the shops and ask first can you film and show them your CZcams channel. Then they get to know you and won’t mind in future visits , love your videos from looking at them in Dublin

    Marc, I think it says a little about the gentleman in question that he was made acting manager or whatever it was, for a short time, probably because someone was off sick and he immediately let the sudden power (in his mind) go to his head!! Some people need to tell others what to do in order to feel better about themselves but he obviously then twigged that he was behaving like a twat!!!

    It didn’t appear that either of those two stores had anything worth filming anyway. You even mentioned in the second one that it was rubbish. I’ve only been in a couple of independently owned stores to film, but I’ve gone in first and asked if it was OK. I think you just caught that second store manager on a bad day. The lady in the first store has a bad day every day if you ask me.

    Maybe for Morley it is worth putting in writing to each of the stores you regularly film in. Explain your motivation for filming, give them the name of your channel so they can look at how you film. Point out in particular how you minimise invasion of anyone's privacy, how you have noticed a difference in reaction when you are using a camera or a phone. Your channel does bring customers to them, I am one, I hadn't been to Morley in years and would never think of going and now I do regularly and I have spent a LOT of money in those shops.

    In a public place you are free to film but when you are in a business, they are entitled to ask you not to film and or to leave as you our on there property.
    If you are asked not to film say sorry put your phone away and carry on doing your shopping. Just because you film for you tube does not give you rights over law. If you don't have permission and you have been asked to stop filming (they don't need to give you a reason why, you are in THERE property) then likely to attract the attention of the law.
    its good practice to write to the head office of any establishment and ask for permission prior to filming in there places of business. Most will accept and find it polite that you asked and grant you permission. If a location says no, respect there answer.

    • @BlueHToys
      @BlueHToys  Před 16 dny

      Thank you. Yes I know the law, I do this quite a bit. In both instances I was done filming and was about to put my camera away, it was the attitude of the lady that caused the issue. In no way is it anything to do with the law or the police. Trespass is a civil matter, that's why you see so many bouncers these days.
      I have been filming in these stores for over 4 years and have got to know the staff but as I said the turn over of said staff means jobsworths who have no training can cause problems. If the shops don't want you to film they need to put up signs.

    • @SamM-oh2cx
      @SamM-oh2cx Před 16 dny +1

      @@BlueHToys Attitude goes a longgggggg way and 9 times out of 10, is the cause of escalating something trivial to something more serious.
      You have to be careful with trespass as it can quickly move from a civil to a lawful offense and that is usually because the store could say a confrontation has or is causing a breach of the peace which then becomes a lawful matter, not civil.
      Have seen it at my local Tesco, security asked a guy to stop filming, guy got gobby, police got called and guy was nicked for breach of the peace.
      Just be careful.
