Now I decided to make a more serious aproach, downloaded ther offical guide which is 440 pages long (good luck for me ig) and started digging more around DAWs in general. you’re awesome man lmao that was so encouraging! i’m very early on in trying to take music production seriously. it’s been hard to figure out if it’s something i wanna pursue or not, i feel like you can ask any room full of random people to raise their hand if music has impacted them personally some way in their life and they’ll all do it. ive been wrestling with feeling unworthy to try to seriously do something with it because it’s not like i’m a musical prodigy or ive been playing instruments since i was a kid. i also just realized i’m only 20 and if i have enough of a passion/interest for this then it’s something i should put serious time and effort into, even if it’s just so i don’t regret not chasing a dream alongside a completely different career.

    • @ThisIsOnesto
      @ThisIsOnesto  Před rokem

      Hey man, I went through something really similar, and in fact I still feel like I wrestle with that same feeling. Sometimes you have to ignore that feeling and pursue a passion, sometimes you have to listen to it and make a plan to make sure your life doesn't fall apart.
      I encourage you to take music production one day at a time. Here's some advice that I wish I took to heart when I first started.
      Your first goal should be to have as much fun as possible and fall more in love with music. Your secondary goal should be to get a little better each week. If you grow by leaps and bounds, great, but "success" right now might just be getting 1% better.
      Hope this all helps. Thanks for this comment too, it made my day.

    Hey Onesto, great video and awesome pep talk.
    I'm curious, did you know how to play piano prior to starting music production?
    I'm personally feeling overwhelmed with all the things to learn that I struggle with knowing "what I should be doing" at any one point.
    Keep making awesome content!

    • @ThisIsOnesto
      @ThisIsOnesto  Před rokem +2

      Thanks for watching and the comment.
      I did know how to play piano before music production. I had playing for a long long time in bands and then got bored at work one day and fell into the music production rabbit hole.
      And I remember how overwhelming everything was at first. The learning curve was the steepest thing I ever encountered even though I was comfortable playing piano.
      So if you're feeling that way, that's good and normal. Now, you're going to encounter countless videos and articles scaring you to "learn this technique or else!" There might be a good tip or two, but you don't "need" to master this or that, especially at the beginning.
      In fact, right now I would try to avoid CZcams as much as possible so you don't get confused and overwhelmed. Instead stick with your DAW's/digital tool's manual (which might be on YT but that's ok). You can go back to CZcams once you feel ready to get pummeled by a million voices telling you 10 million different things.
      I got caught up in that and felt like I had to master every tool before I could make a decent song. What a mistake.
      So if I had to do it all over again, I would stick with all the tools in my DAW, grab some samples, maybe use a virtual instrument or two and make a song, a very bad song in fact. It can even be a mini song with just a verse and chorus. Just make something, and don't judge it based on good or bad. Judge it based on "incomplete" and "complete".
      Be inspired by artists you love, but don't compare yourself to them.
      Eventually you'll learn what you actually love about music production. Whether it's composing, sound design, mixing, mastering, and all the other disciplines involved.
      And please, above all, try to enjoy it as much as possible.

      The essential bundle is such a great bundle, and not just because it's free.
      I think the reason why I omitted this from the list is because I think beginners should buy/learn as few plugins as possible. The first year is a steep learning curve, so I'm hoping they can focus on fundamentals rather than new plugins. does it make sense to buy omnisphere as an 1 year amateuer?

    • @ThisIsOnesto
      @ThisIsOnesto  Před 2 lety

      Thanks for asking, that's a great question. If it's your first year into music production and learning how to make music, I would recommend getting omnisphere in your second or third year.
      The biggest reason being that Omnisphere might offer a little too much to a beginner. I would recommend first year producers focusing on the fundamentals of music production and learning how to compose and arrange.
      If you dive into Omnisphere too early, it's very easy to get caught up in all the great sounds it offers. The better you are at the fundamentals, (EQ, Compression, Saturation, basic FX, and basic mixing), you'll be able to use amazing plugins like Omnisphere more effectively.
      Of course this is all my opinion, and what I wish I would have done my first year. In my first year, I bought as many great plugins as possible and I regret getting distracted from the basics of music production.
