  • These are the top 5 best prescription weight loss medications on the market. These weight loss meds actually work and I've personally used them on many patients with success.
I've been helping people lose weight for a long time and over the years I've been able to test many different weight loss medications. I've found that while there are many prescription weight loss medications available, only a handful actually work very well.
In this video, I will walk you through the top 5 best prescription weight loss medications available on the market, which ones I prefer to use, what you can expect while using them, how they work, and more.
Before you jump in, make sure you understand that while prescription weight loss medications can be very effective, you should never just use them by themselves. If you are serious about weight loss you should combine these weight loss medications with other changes such as adjusting your diet, reducing your stress, exercising daily, and balancing your other hormones.
If your plan is to jump on one of these medications and lose a bunch of weight, it's probably not going to happen!
But these medications can be very effective if used correctly and if combined with a healthy lifestyle.
The top 5 best prescription medications for weight loss include:
    #1. Saxenda/Victoza
Saxenda is FDA approved for weight loss and is probably the single most effective medication on this list.
    #2. Invokana/Farxiga
Invokana and Farxiga are not FDA approved for weight loss but they can help. They work by helping your body eliminate or pee out sugar from your kidneys.
    #3. Naltrexone
Naltrexone is a part of one FDA approved weight loss medication known as Contrave. Naltrexone is not as effective as the others but it is very safe.
    #4. Metformin
Metformin is commonly used to treat diabetes but it does have some weight loss benefits. Don't expect much from metformin though because many people are already taking it.
    #5. Phentermine
Phentermine helps with weight loss by reducing your appetite and increasing up your metabolism. It only works if it is used correctly, however, so don't just jump on it without understanding how to use it.

I tried phentermine, I had extreme pain in my forearms and lost some ability to grip things, which was not a fun side effect working in a kitchen, and well, pain just isn't fun. But I did lose 50 lbs. Gained it all back +10

So I have tried two medications on list. My starting weight was 183 lbs at 5 ft tall. Exercise daily and ate organic for year before reaching out for help and had no luck in loosing weight. I started on Contrave which takes away appetite but had awful side affect I actually felt like I had no emotions. I am mostly a really happy person and positive but I felt num or blah. Very odd. I then switched to phentermine during day and toper-mate at night and went down to 118lbs with daily exercise and healthy eating but when decreased dose weight started coming up as appetite does increase. Hair loss if you don’t supplement with vitamins and really cold poor circulation.

Would love to here is there truly a solution to hunger. So weight became issue after kids doctor was like it’s normal for weight to take this long . Hormones. It was 5 years later and I was like this is not normal. I’m sure there are so many moms out there that have gone through the same thing. I spent 3 hrs in gym every day for years exercised every day during pregnancies. Had beautiful children got blessed with melasma and weight. So it’s disturbing when people seek help for weight loss finally get it off then knowing for some reason when you get off medicine weight comes on. So even when I reduced medicine I was only eating two small meals a day and weight literally just comes on and exhaustion kicks in again. I was told you don’t have to exercise but if I don’t there is no way I was maintaining. I ended up almost hitting my goal and had emergency surgery pelvis floor prolapse out of no were. I’ve been completely healthy my whole life other then this weight gain then ended up getting a hysterectomy. So be mindful and educated on all choices you take. I truly believe there is another reason why my body doesn’t loose weight. So weight climbed on with no exercise and now at 148lbs back at it again. Some people assume people just stuff there face all day that is not always the case. Us moms or women or men just want to be comfortable in our own skin. I know I don’t feel like me. With all the doctors in the world this should be easy.

The best part is it does not require dieting. Did you ever think that losing weight in an easy and natural way may be possible? It seems like a dream but it's not because we've just discovered a method that let us cut our body fat percentage in half within only one month. There are many different diets out there that claim they can help us lose weight and improve our health but only one of them deliver results.

I had labs done recently and am hypothyroid and very leptin resistant. My leptin was 31. I’m about 20lbs overweight and cannot lose anything. I talked my Pcp into letting me try naltrexone. We started at 3mg. He is willing to bump it to 5 if I have no trouble with it. I also take a slew of your thyroid supplements and I’m on a very low carb diet. I’m a metabolic and hormonal mess after cancer treatment 4 years ago. Praying this works!

On Phentermine 15 mg now. Low dosage but good. No heart palpitations or dry mouth. General feeling of wellbeing, moderate appetite suppression. Not great but enough to make me not want to eat until after lunch. Just a sandwich. No sweet junk cravings. No snacking. Easy to get through an 8 hr shift at work. Whereas before I tried 30 mg and it was too strong. I felt jittery, dry mouth, etc.

Interesting! I had a severe twelve-month weight loss plateau after getting off Prozac, and tried a GLP-1 medication for three months - and could not even lose one gram of weight with heavy exercise and calorie restriction. I tried Metformin and lost ten pounds in two months. I have read that Prozac can deregulate AMPK pathways, and that Metformin can up-regulate them, so I can hypothesise that perhaps that had something to do with breaking-through my plateau.

I had my thyroid completely removed 10 years ago and have always just been on Synthroid anywhere between 0.175 to .225. I had a benign tumor that was extremely vascular and growing quickly, they couldn't tell if it was cancerous so they rushed me in. I ended up in the trauma unit for 5 days after surgery, whole list of problems occurred hours after surgery. I do not suffer weight gain whatsoever and never have, its the opposite for me where i have issues keeping my weight. They have never sent me for a T3 test, its always a T4 blood test. I now am told I have high calcium and my doctor is concerned about it. He also tells me there is a chemical being produced from my brain because of the absence of a thyroid and it is producing too much of it. He says this chemical can effect my heart rhythm. Kinda freaking out now. What i have noticed throughout the years that i will suffer EXTREME chill to the point it feels like a seizure, i can feel it coming on out of nowhere and when it happens, im running for the hot hot shower and stay im there for at least 30 minutes until im comfortable to get out. This happens at least once every 3 months ish. Hope you can give me some insight.

I’m not sure what you took, but for me there seemed to be a big difference between the Phentermine tablet and capsule. The tablet gave me similar side effects as you and I didn’t lose any real weight, but do much better on the capsule…it seems to keep my metabolism running and helps with my appetite. Not sure why they seem to be different.

Let me tell you what I did. I also am/was an emotional eater. My goal was weight loss PLUS improvement for two diseases. I did a loose form of keto. I eat ALL the meat I want PLUS I eat ALL the low carb veggies I want. The weight began coming off, but since I wanted it to come off faster, I then started doing intermittent fasting. The weight SLID off. I stayed satiated by eating until I gorged. Today I weigh 120. Been 120 for 3 years.

10 lbs. only ? I would recommend self love 💕 and self acceptance. Better yet God's love. If all you have to lose is 10lbs it probably isn't even affecting your health and it surely should not be affecting any sane person's acceptance of you. If someone else is not accepting you because you need to lose 10lbs.then I would question that person's character.

If I could (or wanted to) diet and exercise, why would I need this medications? Obesity is on thing that the medical community just doesn't have a clue about. They can replace your heart but have no solid plan on weight loss.
If the official "treatment" for obseity is diet and excersise.........why don't medical facilities have gyms and trained professionals on site and covered by insurance? We could go there every day and workout with trained professionals teaching us what excersises will help us to reach our goals.
