www.pedestrians.org Part 1. Demolition of the Cameron Glen Nursing Home in Reston, Virginia. Built in 1986. Produced by John Z Wetmore, producer of "Perils For Pedestrians".
It looks like a pretty decent building . And it's pulled down . Not cheap must be more than just redevelopment. LOTS of mold or building is falling down . 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Building was closed by fire marshal in 2021. 3-acre site being redeveloped: could be a park; could be new construction. Looks like the FD used it for training on roof ventilation before demolition team got started. Ground floor wings look like they were torn down before video begins. It's interesting, in a post mortem sort of way, to see the demo team disassembling the HVAC / mechanical room for the building, if you can recognise the pieces. The shot of the pressurized pipe at 34:57 demonstrates why contractors should always depressurize / de-energise / disconnect all utilities before tearing into things, not merely cutting power, water, sewer, gas, & steam at the meter bases or valve boxes. Reminds me of ammonia chillers used in industrial refrigeration. Were it something like that, they'd have had a real mess on their hands.
@@marcneville5181 still. That building can be saved, you would need to get inside take a good hard look inside make a plan, get a list together of what needs to be done with the building. As long as the bones to the building is good the is easy .

taking forever to knock this place down
What happened to this place?
I lived in Reston in 1972-73 and I'm having trouble placing this building.
It wasn't build until 1986. The whole area around there was woods back in the 1970s. It's just north of where the Library is now.

הוא הולך לאט כי הם מפרידים בין כל המתכת והפלדה. זה ילך מהר יותר אם היו משתמשים במטפלי חומרים במקום בחופרים.
