  • Adam talks about making stuff, taking measurements, and gage blocks. It's a shame not that many people know Carl Edvard Johansson.
This is probably the panel I was most excited about, seeing Adam Savage in person at Open Sauce 2023! I recorded the entire thing, and here you can watch it.
Not as fun as being there, but hey, there's always next year.

As a calibration technician, I love this talk. This guy summarizing my entire job in ~20 minutes haha

The fact this only has 1k views is a sin. What an amazing talk.

3:40 big boat rushes the stage. It was so loud irl, I'm impressed the mic was able to filter it out

Good point! It was indeed very loud irl.
This was recorded using my Nothing Phone (1) internal mic, so I was kinda worried about the audio.
However, it turned out fine (not the best but certainly not the worst)!

I used Gague blocks during my apprenticeship at trade school with a surface plate and a sine bar and have never used that sort of accuracy since. But I do have problems with the crudeness of house construction within 3mm 1/8 of an inch.

I'm not into science, but this one was interesting to listen to.

I was left wondering the same thing 😢 I guess he didn't have enough time for that after all.

@@otakuengineering Well a great talk nonetheless. Adam is definitely one of my heroes. Not necessarily because he is so "great" at what he does, but because he is so HUMAN at what he does... yet still manages to achieve greatness. Does that make sense?

Yes it does! He makes mistakes along the way, but keeps working on things until he's satisfied with the result. He's also got a great sense of humour and doesn't give off that celebrity vibe, so it's easy to see what you mean.
