    We just stayed at the Candy Cane Inn which is walking distance to the main gate. Our family stayed in three rooms. I can’t say enough about the positive culture that the staff here demonstrates. Always helpful and courteous. The rooms were spacious and clean. The complimentary breakfast was excellent and met the needs of the grandparents, parents, and children in our group. Parking was complimentary and checkin and checkout times were flexible. They provided a shuttle service to and from the parks, but, honestly, the walk was five minutes to the park and that is what we did most of the time. I know this hotel exceeds the 1/10 mile criteria but I felt that I needed to mention how happy we were with our stay.

    We always stay at the BW Anaheim Inn and love it!! The breakfast area is my favorite part because of the outside patio! Sitting outside drinking coffee watching all the people walk by towards Disney is the best! Second favorite is Park Place Inn. Those are the two best hotels in my opinion!

    I remember traveling with my 8th grade class and I was the only "expert". And they wanted everyone to round up outside the park at 8am every mornin. I told them I'd be in the park already cause I'm not missing rope drop. Walked by myself across the street. đŸ€Ł

    This video should win an award! When I was planning our first trip, I had no idea how to figure out the logistics of getting from a hotel to the park entrance and, as you said, Google Maps is not always helpful. We lucked out and got a nice place just a bit further down the street, but had I seen this video we might have been able to get even closer!

    My wife and I stayed in the Tropicana last November for my birthday and absolutely *adored* it. Also we got a deal for less than 200 a night, and that was even with having to add a night at the last minute.
    Beyond any of that... The value of being just so close to the parks can't be overstated. It took so much stress off our minds to know that if we needed to leave the park for any reason, we wouldn't be sacrificing valuable time on travel or having to deal with the nightmare of public transit at the end of the night to get back.
    We're not sure when we'll be back, but we'll definitely be staying at the Tropicana again.

    Thank you for this. I am a local who lives about 45 minutes away from Disneyland without traffic, but with the traffic it usually takes about two hours to get there. At the end of the month I will be taking my son to Disneyland 1st trip and on his 4th Birthday! However, he does take a two-three hour nap every day. I know will not make it to the fansmatic..or the fireworks if he does not nap. With the weather. I am thinking of staying somewhere we can stay and to get his nap in and get out of the heat. I had some friends who did this and said it was worth it. I have been saving up for the trip and thought why not have a mini get away.

Our 3 year olds white socks were black within about 20 minutes of floor play. All 3 rooms were infested with flying gnats too. The hotel staff always left us without soap every day so we had to phone the front desk and ask for bar soap. One time they ran out of bar soap and gave us some liquid soap instead.

    Ever since Walt Disney opened. Disneyland, he regretted having to share the neighborhoid with “outsiders”. According to legend, that’s why he chose to purchase the vast amount iof orange groves in Central Florida.
    That all done with, and now a “live with it” situation, it is ironic that the Harbor Hell area has become far from that, in ither words, the areas near the park entrance driveways have become orime and marketable as “better” than what Disney itself provides. I used to think of H?H. As undesirable, but i am relooking at tgese prooerties for all the nearby conveniences, e.g. less expensive, variety of rooms, available reasonably priced food, and shorter walking distances among them. The final irony,is that, as Disney raises it”s prices more and more, probably to ensure an upper-crust customer at its hotels, it economically pushes more value to these Harbor Blvd properties, so that they continue to thrive. Remember that magnets both attract and repel at the same time. Funny how things sometimes play out.

    This is great except literally none of these prices they're naming are even close to the astronomical prices i am seeing as I write this in February. All the prices are EASILY $100+ above the highest number they're naming.

    Hello from Australia, we are going to Disneyland in December with my daughters dance school.
    they have booked the airfares and accommodation and we’re staying at the Howard Johnson hotel. I’d love you to rate it for me and also let me know how far it is with walking distance from Disney please? also just liked and subscribed xxx

      @TheDisneylandBeat  Pƙed 2 lety +1

      Howard Johnson is great. I'd say it has good like 2-3 star rooms and the walk is only a touch further then those in this video, 400m of the city to the entrance and then 200m more to be inside the park itself! The hotel has one of the better pools around with some slides and such! You will walk past Mimi's cafe Panera bread and mcdonalds. You are going to really enjoy the stay.

    Do you have to walk past the parking or it is directly by the entrance trying to figure out if it would be better to do parking at the park handicap parking or a walk from say park vue inn?

    • @TheDisneylandBeat
      @TheDisneylandBeat  Pƙed rokem

      The Harbor Blvd entrance is a short walk from the closest hotels, it does cross one street. Will you be using a chair/ECV? There is a rental place in the Best Western right there next to the Park Vue. If you park at the parking garages, you will have to navigate down an elevator/escalator but then you can ride the parking tram into the park. If you park at the Toy Story lot you have to ride a bus up to the Harbor Entrance.
      Most likely I recommend staying close, when we take our Nana who is in a chair we prefer to get a standard wheelchair as she isn't the best ECV driver and we mostly push. The closer hotel (to us) is more convenient, if we want a break its a short stroll as opposed to having to get on and off the tram, into and out of our car etc.. The walk from the parking tram drop off to the park entrance is half the distance of the walk from the park vue.
      If you can handle the crazy prices, staying at the Grand Californian is ideal, it has the shortest walks of any place you could stay.

    • @TheDisneylandBeat
      @TheDisneylandBeat  Pƙed 2 lety +2

      Id say a 10 min avg. Its not too bad. It just depends on your timing or the random whims of the line you choose. In the mornings they go all out and open every gate. I usually have longer waits trying to get into Downtown Disney from the Grand Californian. But I have had a couple rare mornings where the harbor side was just mobbed.

    • @TheDisneylandBeat
      @TheDisneylandBeat  Pƙed 2 lety +2

      Dont hate to say it, for the price, compared to what you would get at other places regionally and even some tourist spots - THEY ARE! Its all about proximity to the park, AND there are issues in this area with making refurbishments, due to regulations, its costly and as they CONTINUE to bring in tons of profit I think they figure- why bother! But the park is the thing for us and as long as the room isnt HORRIBLE, we are usually satisfied. There are NICER hotels with nicer pools, etc... a shuttle ride away. Or just stay in the parks - which we occasionally do! But, no shame, you have a point!
