I have this speaker. Paid $44 😊. Received it a week ago. I’ve been playing it continuously since. You’re right about the sound. Boxy AF. Highs are a smidge lacking too. With that said the sound is clear and the bass is decent, even at max... Also, other pluses are it gets freakin loud, it’s has a long battery life and you can use as a power bank, which I did for the first time yesterday. So, with all that said, the pluses outweigh the negative, even though the negative is a big one which is the sound. From a scale from 1 to 10 I’d get the M118 a generous 7. Also, don’t know if you’ve tried EQ-ing this speaker. I did via Spotify and it did improve the sound. Boxy wasn’t eliminated though. I’m guessing because that’s being caused by the housing.
I personally thought that the m86,m90,m99 were there best😉. Didnt care for the 118
