Yamaha Niken GT Review (2023) | Testing the latest Niken in Sardinia | Visordown

  • The #yamaha #Niken has received its biggest update since it was launched, as well as full GT status thanks to the extra touring capabilities. With more tech than ever before, chassis refinements and that belting new 890cc CP3 engine, show it a twisty road and it really is a bike to make you smile.
    It though a bit of an oddity in the motorcycle world, with most other manufacturers only focusing on smaller-capacity leaning multi-wheel machines. We don't think that should put you off though, and if you have a dealer near you that has one as a demo bike, we heartily recommend you get down there for a test ride!

    The bike is hoot to ride. It’s King of the greasy roundabout, doesn’t care about potholes, let’s you take liberties that you would not normally consider. It’s interesting reading the closed mind comments of the haters who have not ridden one. New updates can only make it better. Bravo Yamaha.

    I want a Niken GT. It's the only machine that invites me to get back into biking.
    2 wheels: Been there, seen it, done that.

    I've done 30k miles on the previous generation - like this thing it's a back road open road scratching tourer. Eventually the front end loosens up ..or at least enough for a tiny wiggle but payoff is super fast steering and nice feel.

    Very encompassing review. I just thought it missed him saying if this is a better bike on what it was made for: breaking and cornering

    Good review. It sounds f#@king amazing. I would have no problems owning it, unlike some of the closed minded bikers out there, for me its all about the fun and if this means I can chuck it into a corner knowing it will handle the crap road surfaces we all face in the UK, then happy days. My only bone of contention is the range, ehich would piss me off. For all those who say you may as well get a car, I see plenty of sports bikes riden mainly on the road ,not the track and plenty of tractor off road adventure bikes riden on the road, not on the dirt. This bike is just another option to choose for those that want to ride the road and just maybe avoid being sent down it on your arse because of crappy road surfaces

    Enjoyed the road test, and from the comments on here lots of people give it the thumbs-up,
    Some really love the Niken, for me it doesn't do anything,
    May be a brilliant thing ,just can't see me being a customer or wanting to test ride one , ,
    But that's me ,

    Whilst I love Yamaha sticking their neck out with this bike, I find the price a bit too strong. For a little more you can get a Goldwing. Which holds its value far better.

    Rwhp is just about 100bhp
    A little gutless for me so I installed a turbo kit. It now has 158 rwhp.
    The kit is by Extreme Creations Australia.
    When you know, you know.

    • @Flakapief
      @Flakapief Před 5 měsíci

      How reliable is the kit? also whats the top speed now?

    • @jonnyturbo100
      @jonnyturbo100 Před 5 měsíci

      Top speed remains the same 127 mph at the moment. I can change it electronically, I have a powerCommander piggyback onto the original ECU. plus I could change sprocket sizes.
      I will change the chain this season to a 530 with new corresponding sprockets.
      Any more info I’m happy to help.

    Why can't the pivot mechanism be locked while stopped to permit easier maneuvering when parking and along with that a reverse button so the starter motor can assist backing out of parking or uneven surfaces. (as in the Piaggio 530 hpe)

    It's appropriate that you would ride the Japanese version in Italy, where this parallelogram design was first invented.

    İ understand that Niken GT iş not a economycal bike. When it comes ito fuel economy. Is it true? İf we ride normal calm speeds like 100kmh could it be eco. ?

      Japanese words often sound different in English. "Katana" for example, should be said as "GA-t'na" but nobody cares so we say "kaTAna"

    They still make these? They still haven't sold the 2020 models from the local stores. The Yamaha Niken and the BMW R18 are the least ridden bikes on the market. They need to kill those off and move on.

      Actually this three wheel design has been in production since 2006 by the Italian company Piaggio, where they sell tons in Europe (MP3 and Fuoco). It's not going anywhere, we're just slow to catch up, as Yamaha is now doing with their "Tricity"
