I'm not really a "no-screens purist" at all, but I have to say that there is something really special about having a ride that's 100% physical sets and animatronics. This is definitely one of my favorite rides at Universal and I REALLY hope they'll keep it open for a long time!
TheRealSweedie yes, and being Universal I like that they use screens in many attractions: seems fitting for a movie studio. Having said that though, I strongly prefer practical effects, and dearly miss ET in Hollywood.
@@rjkral I really don't mind the screens, most of the time they're extremely well implemented. Definitely not one to scream about them having too many. But it is cool to have some attractions that are all set and AA based, it's different and feels nostalgic in a way!
Even though ET is a slow ride, I hope it never shuts down because this is my childhood.

This is one of my favorite rides at Universal. I must have gone on it a hundred times during my year pass

Magic Candle Company makes one that's very close. Winter wonderland by Yankee Candle is pretty similar too.
I was so young when I went on this ride. I just remember the end when E.T. knew all of our names 🤯 he called our names out one by one as we walked up
E.T. Adventure has been a favorite of mine since childhood. It is the crown jewel attraction at USF, gaining the reputation, respect and love from fans that is equivalent to how fans treat Peter Pan’s Flight, Pirates and countless other Disney attractions across the road. It is only right that someday Universal officials come to their senses and invest some cash-flow to give this classic dark ride a major refurbishment.

Wish he could have had the same pull, to keep Back To The Future..
The last few times I have visited the park there was never any line for this ride, you could walk right onto it. In a way I kind of regretted going through the forest line queue so quickly and not taking the time to appreciate the ambiance which was so fascinating to me as a child when waiting in the (then) long lines for the ride.

Yeah they kinda are especially when you look behind you while on the ride after you leave that scene because it completely turns dark but you can kind of see the "friend" still

Fun fact- the city scene is called Vista. The ride switched from 3 across to 4 across in the early 2000’s. I worked there 94-00.

I've been on this ride 3 times, once on my in 2003. My favourite film of all time. I even had the photo of me on the bike done!
I hope this ride never closes. It’s a great ride for kids and a great connection to Universal’s past.
I’m a huge Universal fan and genuinely expected to know all 10 of these, but I learned some new things! Definitely checking out more of these videos
This will always be one of my favorite rides. My nieces love it and it shows that the magic of physical props can outlive screens. Screens are still great. The Spider-Man update will hopefully give that ride enough life to keep entertaining for years. Thanks for including me in the video!

So cool! This is my favorite ride of all time so everytime I go I try to look deeper into the set and finally the last time I did see the baseball field!!
I only went on this once in 2007. I meant to go on it last time we were in Orlando in 2016 but we were visiting both parks in one day during the month of October an didn't have time. I will certainly be riding this next time I go there. I am just glad they didn't get rid of this after removing the versions in Japan and Hollywood. I just hope they don't consider removing it after such point that Spielberg passes on.

Yeah, the attraction is old and many of the animatronics are just plain bad, but I confess I love this ride too and it's one of my favorites. Every time we go the universal Orlando we make a point to ride the ET Adventure at least 10 times. Please Universal, keep this last one alive...forever!

When I went to this in 1991, the park brochure description mentioned some of the aliens you would see on E.T.'s home planet, including "Jumpums" and "Tickly Moot Moots", which I recognized as being terms from the Kotzwinkle book. I wonder if I still have that brochure in my scrapbook?

About 2 years I went on search to find any picture or video of the Et Spaceship Ride Vehicles.. After 6 months of looking I almost gave up.. A Friend sent me a link to a CZcams Video and said not sure if this is what you are looking for but it might be!! I immediately shared it to my Facebook Page.. So glad it spread so quickly and got to be used in this video... Your video awesome thank you for making a video about Universal Studios Last Opening Day Attraction still running for almost 30 years!!!

ET terrified me as a child and I still don't understand why people think he's "cute" instead of "horrific", but this has always been one of my favorite attractions. It's just so interesting and well designed. I hope to never see ET outside my window at night but I also hope they never close this ride down.
I remember hearing a while back that Universal wanted to get rid of E.T and Spielberg said if they take the last ET out, he wants his Jurassic Park out too, which is probably why Hollywood changed their version to Jurassic World🤷♂️idk but it makes sense because if it does good in Hollywood they’ll replace the Orlando one too and then just get rid of ET after that

Great job! I had no idea about the many details you mentioned, even though I've been riding it since it opened! I have new-found appreciation for this ride. And for you, too, Alicia! BTW I hope ET survives the new theming around it! I have a suggestion for a future video, Theme park on-site smoking, albeit unpopular, has a sordid history in the Disney parks. I actually have a Mickey Mouse ashtray from Disneyland! I also have an ashtray from EPCOT (both scarce today). Alicia, I commented this topic once before. Actually, 14% of Americans (34.2 million adults) smoke. As do 1 billion people worldwide. Currently, smokers must exit Disney parks to smoke; and most are OK with that. BUT, these smokers must re-queue through security after every smoke. I know, smoking is unhealthy. My perception of Disney's lack of accommodation for smokers isn't about politics, but about Disney not welcoming smokers. With their acreage, concealed smoking areas have never been a problem. Until now. Alicia, how about the history of smoking in theme parks, especially Disney?

There was actually going to be an ET sequel called ET 2 Nocturnal Fears. Which would be about Elliot and his friends being Kidnapped by Evil Aliens and them contacting ET for help. But Spielberg decided to never make a Sequel.

i had too when i was a kid. i was and still am terrified of ET and the photo of me completly red in the face and ready to leg it, had nightmares for a week after that.

I must be in the minority here, but I'll admit that I love this ride a million times more than the actual movie. I few times a year I just get nostalgic pangs wanting to visit USO to ride it.

I used to work for the photo company that does the pictures in the closet, the Rock-em Sock-em robots on the top shelf are not mounted down, and they work. When it got slow we would play with them, but then a park lead got us in trouble :/

As kid i was afraid of this bc one i didn't know how to ride a bike. N i saw on the poster kids riding the bikes. N i asked the cast members r whatever u call them. Do u actually ride the bikes. N they said no lol. But i also not wanting to be at tge front of the ride smh. So i rode n back with my mom rip n her friend rip bc i was afraid lol. Shoot i was only 8 r younger than that. I dont remember my name being call out lol. I hardly remember this ride i was very young. But they need to bring it back. I do remember my mom always had my sister n always nicely dressed no matter where we went r dress the same or similar.

Great video. Love this ride. Only wish Universal were as scared of other directors (Zemeckis, Jim Cameron etc...!) as they are of Spielberg and had kept their movies' attractions too! Though I suppose they did already can Jaws... But I heard every time they even whisper about retiring ET Adventure, Spielberg threatens to end his Universal partnership....! But I suppose even he can't keep the attraction around forever....

Is the fact that this attraction is still open because Steven Spielberg said that if they did, he'd sever ties with universal true? because it kind of sounds like an urban legend to me.
Yea, or at very least, probably blown out of proportion.
What ever happened to hate to fly? P.S.: all signs point to the store closings in City Walk for a move of the Universal studios store. If you look at the permit bot there's one for the current Universal studios store as well. Best guess is that the current store is moving to a bigger area for more sales space for Nintendo stuff...and the old store becomes a preview center for Epic Universe.
I remember the space ship vehicles form when I was a kid but my family has denied it for years. They thought I may have dreamed them up or something! HAH! NowI have proof!! I really hope this ride never closes, and I really think if they offered overnight "Camping trips" in the queue, they could make millions!! I've always wanted to do that!.
I have The Book of the Green Planet. I was only able to read about 20 pages because it was so confusing.
Sadly, the last two times I was there (2017 and this month), the ride has just really shown its wear and tear...neither time did the sound work correctly and it really looks like it needs a retracking, at the very least since it was REALLY bumpy and jerky...It’s main appeal to my family was simply nostalgia (since my kids are old enough to have grown up visiting the Universal Hollywood version)

Apparently he was upset when they closed the first one and then universal said they wouldn't close anymore of them, but then they closed the next one and he was furious. So I think apparently he told them if they closed the Orlando one, then he's gonna cut ties with them. Dunno if this is true, but I don't think they'd risk losing speilberg.
