I use the Megabass orochi xx Braillist for my jig, it’s the best I’ve found for almost every type of jig fishing except for the really heavy jig like 1oz + and it’s 7’5 so not the best for skipping but I hav a dedicated jig skipping rod anyways for if I’m doing a bunch of skipping.
Great video Tyler. Definitely a lure I need to fish a lot more
I do like the length of rods you said but I definitely lean more towards heavy rods and heavier lines and thats a difference I've noticed from guys who grew up fishing up north and guys who grew up in the south. Growing up I've lost some absolute giants down here because I didn't have enough rod or heavy enough line. It all comes down to preferences and the rods I use are more geared towards the area I live in. Great video as always keepem coming brother!!!
I don’t have an Ark rod but a buddy has that exact rod and loves it. The best jig rods I’ve fished are my Shimano Expride B 7’2” Heavy/fast for pitching lay downs and structure as well as dragging football jigs with 1/2 oz and above. My go to for MOST jigs up to about 3/4 oz including trailer is my Kistler Helium 7’3” HMH/Extra fast. Just enough tip and lots of backbone
And unbelievably sensitive. And yes, rods do have sensitivity. Hear some say otherwise. That’s drivel
I know everyone’s different !! I throw my 3/8th and under flipping/skippin 7”3 moderate heavy fast ..St croix legend pair with lews SP(Skippin pitching reel)..I throw 7”6 rods as well ..I love 8.1 gear ratio flippin
I go back and fourth between my Megabass P5 FMJ and my Daiwa Steez power pitch. Both rods are very versatile and can do a lot of other things. Maybe not a sensitive as an NRX but it’s so close that it doesn’t really make a difference. Tight lines everyone thanks for the insight Tyler I really love this channel.
My favorite is St croix bassX 7’4 MH mod-fast. I have more expensive rods but I always come back to that one for a jig.
Edit I do 30lb braid and change leader depending on the jig.
First.... Love your vids Man. Them helps me to become an average fisherman. Greetings from Brazil
Great video!! Thanks for the helpful advice on what rod to use for each situation!! Stay Safe & God Bless!!! 🤠👍
Love the jig, thanks sir
I do like that rod but how big are the eyes? I have a rod I love but when I go braid with a leader it gets hung up just a bit. The eyes are so tiny. Action is awesome though.
Good info!
Good information
NRX 873 CRR
I feel like with a fast action tip, the fish can feel tension from the line to your rod alot quicker and will spit your bait. I have 1 casting rod cause I'm cheap and its a fast action medium/heavy rod 7'2". Seems like on paddletail swimbaits, swimjigs and some other moving baits, that when a fish strikes the lure, there's so much load instantly on the rod that it kind of pulls the bait out of the fishes mouth before they can really get a good hold of it. I'm starting to feel like I need about atleast 5 different rods right now lol
If your rolling with moving baits other than a jerkbait a moderate action is definitely better
For swimbait jigs with stop and go movement a fast action rod is the way to go.
-faster strike detection faster strikes
-more feel what is going on with the lure
Thanks for sharing…site says these rods are discontinued 😢
This isn't really relevant but when is a medium action rod useful? I think it's useful for moving baits when you want to a little more give on the rod so the bass eats it fully. Is this right?
Good for topwater lures especially with treble hooks. Also use mine for weightless plastics.
@@davidfelton3084 I see that makes a lot of sense, you don't want the brunt of the rod to be on those treble hooks
