Notepad with pen holder tutorial (craft fair ideas 2022)

- After my last video on craft fair ideas (link below), I received requests for a tutorial on how to turn legal pads into beautiful notebooks, so here it is! It is a simple project and it's one of those that allows you to use the supplies you already have at home. After watching, you will be able to adapt the template to any other legal pad size you might have.

Paula, I just love the way you give your tutorials so precisely and clear. Your illustration was a great idea. The question I have is on the right hand side you wrote down the number 6 as you were talking about using a different sized notepad. But you did not actually write the measurement of the 5 x 8 notepad. Should that measurement be 8 by 11 1/2? With the scoring done with the 11 1/2 side on top? I believe so but I just want to be sure. I have had some difficulty getting it to work. And as I said your diagram was so helpful but the number 6 threw me off! Thank you!
Carmela, the height is the same as your paper height. As for the width, just double the width of the pad + 1-1/2 inches for the pen holder. :) Hope that was clear.
Do you have a video of how you make the pens? Do you wrap the paper around like coil style or just glue it around vertically?
Just wrap it, no need for glue. Ise paper, not cardstock.

Hi. I am new at this and would love to know how cover a 4x6 notepad with pen holder. I have wasted too much paper to try again without your measurements. What would be the base size cardstock and scoreline marks for 4x6. thanks so much. I love this tutorial.
If the side of the Notepad measures half an inch, your paper should be 9 1/2 inches long by 6 inches height. Score it on 4 1/2, 5 inches, and 5 1/2. This should work for you. Please do let me know.

Love this idea! Thanks for the inspiration. I would like to use just one note pad instead of all three that comes in the package, so would your measurments still work just using one paper pad?
I don't think it would work because the pen needs the height of 3 to fit, otherwise the pen will be taller than the notebook. For one, here is a tutorial that will help you: czcams.com/video/As5SWxuixZY/video.html

It depends on the product because these bags come in many sizes.

Are you adding the calendar? Depends on the spine, is it the dollar store one that comes in threes? How many are you using?
No calendar. It is the dollar store one in 3’s

It won’t fit a pen then. For the basic cover, 7-1/4 by 5 in. Score at 3-1/2 and 3-3/4
