  • A look at the 3/8" (model #37315 ) and 1/2" (model #37316 )shake and break tools from Mayhew. These are designed for use with an 0.401 compatible air hammer and an impact socket to break loose a stubborn fastener with the combination of impact and manual rotation. Another thing i thought of that will make great use with these is the twist off sockets for rounded nuts/bolts then you probably wont even need to hammer the twist off socket on to the fastener

Go to “Eric the Car Guy video, “ Kryptonite on Stubborn Screws, The Shake N Break” to see the tool work and get an unbiased opinion oh how it works. Has many more uses then brake rotor screws!

Or buy the Wivco versions, they have retaining rings similar to what’s on your impact gun.

Would only work on a shouldered bolt.

Does this damage the combo wrench used? Especially if used often?

I've only used this a couple of times and never with a "good" wrench for just that reason.

@@OnTheWorkbench I'm just worried the wrench would explode or something...
Similar to if one used a non-impact socket on an impact gun, how that socket can explode.

Put the tape over the socket so it'll push the tape in and hold better.

Why not just use an air or battery impact wrench?

thats a good way to twist the head off seized screws and rusted bolts.

The conventional method is to use heat. It almost always work but sometimes you can not use a torch. Like near plastic or rubber that will melt. Or near gas which is just dangerous. I fail to see a lot of benefit in this tool but I am sure it is better than nothing.@@gerardjones7881

Yea handheld impact driver is better for small bits. Air hammer might be to powerful & break bits Just Sayn 😁

I don't get why you would use this with *an impact socket on an air hammer*, instead of just using *an impact socket with an air impact driver*. Seems like using an air hammer would be much rougher on your sockets as well as on the fastener itself.
Note: For those that never did quite master the skill of READING before POSTING, please note that I am NOT questioning whether one should be using an impact socket versus a non-impact socket. Keep this in mind and READ before making yourself look like a total moron by replying with irrelevant comments.

I strongly recommend not using a chrome socket with this tool unless you want to dig steel splinters out of your carcass

Why you would use this? Because you are dealing with a rusty bolt/nut/screw that is stuck and will break if you try to undo normally. Like small diameter stuff, rotor/torx screws, bleeder screws, etc

I would not go as far and say use less. But it is limited to bringing it to peoples attention and a few ideas on accessories.
