Im already 31 years old but im still watching this piece of art in youtube. The best game for me. I really do hope Konami will continue with Suikoden 6. There are still a lot of true runes to be shown and places to visit.
I played this so many times.. I realize the game was packed and rich with adventure and storyline. Finishing on a first time trial was a struggle: manage to raise my hero to about level 60+ and gaining the normal ending. Then the second ending later learn during the necklord invasion where I choose to run during the undead siege made me realize it was possible to gain such bed end. My 3rd attempt later realize when remembering the first scenario when the hero and jowy promise to met near the waterfall early beginning of the game: it was a subtle hint to learn this was a good ending all along. I played all of this learning by myself not through any online walkthrough or cheats. I grind this game more hours I had originally plan... Later I learn that they have more than 108 actual stars character to choose from and also another adventure must be rushed for clive and eliza of the howling voice guild storyline. This made the experience becomes more valuable as I grind more hours into it. Suikoden 1 and 2 was an amazing childhood

It's weird how I never could get this ending despite meeting all the requirements: 108 Stars, Nanami's Defense is more than 121, I immediately replied when Nanami's blocking those arrows, Dr. Huan calls for Shu, All I do is defend in our Duel vs Jowy, I denied a position as leader of the country, Jowy can damage me up to less than 20% my HP, etc... Somehow, I'm always trapped in a loop where Jowy keeps handing me the Black Sword Rune.
You must complete the 108 stars before attacking Matilda or before attacking Muse to battle golden wolf. Obtain the Forgiver Sign and defend Nanami. You must first equip Nanami the best defense armor to be able to save her and get the good ending.
IDK about any defense requirements, but one thing that may cause that is if you recruit all 108 stars, but after going to Matilda. This happened to me on one of my playthroughs, before I managed to get the best ending. I missed a couple of characters, but the one I remember specifically is Genshu, since he's so difficult to recruit. When I finally got the hammer neeeded to sharpen my weapon enough for him to join, it was already too late. The Matilda mission was complete and, after that, the game doesn't register the completion of the 108 stars.
I really hope they don't, developers tends to duck up the entire game plot to make it fit the "mmo standards". Suikoden would probably turn into another game where everyone is the owner of the same castle, and everyone have to do quest to random people in order to level up and stuff. Without counting that possibly the recruitment of the 108 stars would be limited, with the possibility of some of them being locked behind a pay wall.
When gaming companies used to produce great heroic and romance stories for games instead of focusing on graphics... such a waste that Konami killed great games and turned into a mobile game producer instead. When games used to have essence.
I think because he just wanted them to both live a normal life without the baggage of Jowy's atrocities as King of Highland. When you visit the optional Sajah village before the final dungeon, you notice that even highlanders view him with disgust. They *could* have taken them, but it's assumed that the trio escaped to somewhere secluded from normal life. Riou was done, Nanami was *very* done, and Jowy didn't have many other options other than to follow the two friends that unconditionally love him.

i hope they make it as an MMORPG.. Suikoden II Story is the BEST ever done! This game will surely be in my heart even if I die.
