I own a used car. Love it ever since I bought it. I had to fix up minor to major problems at the very beginning. All due to it having been owned by a company. I recommend learning the history on the car and buying a better car.

I know this was almost a full month ago, but, could welding sheet metal (two pieces) and silicone and of course properly primed/painted in regards to rust work for the rear since it's going to be widebody regardless?

Body leading..
Tack weld in a preshaped pre-fitted metal strip.
Clean and sand your surfaces extremely well.
I'm talking medically sanitized.
No dirt. No paint. No rust. No nothing.
Clean that Sombeech good.
S.O.P. grind/cut your metal strip to fit as flush to the body that you can... Any of those flap fingers are gonna fold out anyway.
Tack each one as lightly into the body.
Grind carefully using a metal polishing sand disk, don't use a regular hard grinding disk.
Once you get it as flush that you can.
That's where body leading comes in.
It's sorta like a combination of copper pipe heat seam weld glazing with Bondo.
Make sure you pick up the right leading material first at any welding supply stores.
Like; Central Welding Supply.
Or Praxxair.
You'll need 2 steel putty knifes you'll round off the sharp corners.
Couple of Kitchen wooden spoons. Bamboo works
& a couple of smooth bamboo wooden spatulas.
Obviously your body smoothing tools.
Don't heat up the lead too hot or your gonna have a bad day.
Avoid making that runny.
If you ever done pipe glazing before, it shouldn't be a problem if you've used Bondo too.
Take all the necessary fire prevention measures too.
This is an old school technic.
Heat up the area you'll be applying the lead that's after and once you've heated the lead up too.
Timing is key.
Heat the surface, then take a blob with a metal putty knife and apply. Quickly smooth with the wooden utensils.
There'll be some smoke.
It's ok, and expect it.
Set up a fan, cause that ain't a good smell and I'm not talking about a fart neither.
Take precautions.
You might wanna practice first on something around your shop.
Once you get the hang of it.
You'll never do it any other way again.
You can CZcams that process and watch how it's done.
Best of luck to ya.

I don't know why but I love this thing! Reminds me of rolling fenders in the bay area in 2011. Driving a bagged mkv GTI. That I built in my apartment parking lot. Loved stance cars until I realized they are not any faster and speed bumps destroy oil pans. I legit had 5 on stand by in my closet... Dope bruh. But for real excited to see what Yall do. I would probably put coilovers on and make a drift missile out of it.

I actually use those "Rubber Grommets" you talk about its called ZSPEC widebody screws and bolts, its actually expensive and has held up on my end super well, not no motorcycle windshield grommets......

As a Minnesotan I expect nothing less from a Minnesota car. The car scene is exactly like this
So I had a widebody focus and the rubber grommets that you tap the rivets into is an option for people that used colored hardware, if you do it right and come from behind the panel you’re attempting to put them on, they’ll be very tight and keep everything in place like they’re supposed to but you’ve got to drill it like a smidge smaller than whatever the instructions say
But holy shit they wrecked that shit😂

I can’t wait to see what this car looks like when it’s done, I feel like it has a lot of potential to be even better than what it was claimed to be when Gavin traded for it.
