To the east of Switzerland, bordering on Italy and Austria lies Graubünden, its best known towns are Chur, Davos, and St Moritz. The entire Canton is situated in the Swiss Alps, with biting cold and plenty of snow Graubünden is a winter wonderland. But fun on the slopes are only one aspect of a Swiss winter, the Alps can also be deadly when it heaps snow and ice mercilessly over everything in its path anything not properly prepared.

Here in Brazil, the intense heat ravages Christmas and kills Santa Claus and his reindeer from sunstroke. Seeing the world plunged in snow and haunted by the cold makes me forget the heat. It makes summer more tolerable.
