Going to hitch a ride
Head for the other side
Leave it all behind
Never change my mind
Going to sail away
Sun lights another day
Freedom on my mind
Carry me away for the last time
Oh yeah

I'm 63 yes old, had a heart attack last Monday. And had 2 stints put into my ❤. Was released from hosp last Thursday and readmitted last Friday. Went into ❤ failure Monday morning. To make a long story short, when I was feeling close to the end, I pulled up this song and played it as loud as I could because I was ready to head for the other side. I could vision myself swiftly moving through the clouds towards my final destination on the purest of sunlight beyond belief. My daughter has strict orders to play this song at my funeral and for nobody to cry for me. But be happy for me that I'm on my way home. JAMMIN!!! BOSTON ROCKS
Hope you’re well. I would like a version of this played at mine too. ❤
Nice story my guy. I am 56. Triple bypass in August 23. Lots of complications afterwards. I am doing better now. I am so thankful for the Internet and earbuds. Music soothes my soul. May peace and good health be apon you.
Hope your all ok!
The other side?? You need to know Jesus.....otherwise the other side may be your worst nightmare that will last for eternity ❤
May god bless u and ur family and keep u around longer!!! Just by reading this i can tell ur a down to earth guy and i have faith ull get through it 👍🏻💪🏽
I’m 58 and believe this is arguably the greatest album ever recorded…
My son David died recently from a drug overdose. Listening to this song helps me. Until we meet again ❤
I'm sorry.
@@reflexedrose1879 Thank you so much.
I am so so sorry. My so, Stu died the same way. This was his favorite Bostno. I know you changed because I did.

I know a hug from a stranger on the internet is almost worthless, but I just sent one to you anyway. For you and for David. You will hug him again some day.
My father just passed away and listening to this song gives me the strength to carry on....Love you always dad.
I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my hero as well, and miss him everyday!

My condolences and much love to you at your father's passing.

Sad that most people don't know now just how awesomely great a player Tom is. Not only guitar, but played all instruments on this album except the drums...amazing

such a goddamn CRIMINALLY underrated solo, we need a support group for this subject
@@randgibbs1440 Agree. Too many people judge guitarists on technical proficiency alone, but some guitarists excel at making **music** and get left behind in discussions of great guitarists.
Man....even 46 years later, this solo still gets me right in the heart. Absolutely amazing.
It does.
There are some songs that make your stomach hurt in a good way kind of
This is hilarious. I even had this album.
Boston came on the radio while I was transporting my supervisor from one location to another. He said, "what a good band they were" and I said, the guitar work in Hitching a Ride is one of the best ever.' My supervisor is now always in a good mood with me.
Both the organ and guitar solos on REO's "Keep on Rollin'" are the only other solos that hit me the same way as Toms do on this track. Some things never get old brother!
I'm 67 and I still can't turn the volume up enough !!!!!! This complete album is a freakin masterpiece !!!!! Tom and Brad= The dynamic duo !!!! RIP Brad..
I broke my volume knob trying to go to "11"! 👍
Alan, can you think of ANYONE that sounded like this when they came out? I can't. So original. Hearing these songs so often, for so long, it is easy to take for granted how TRULY amazing they were.
I just turned 60 and I blast this cd in my car!!!!

It's a sad shame that Boston never got the true respect they truly earned, this is pure rock and roll. In my opinion Boston was the greatest rock and roll band, their music is timeless, a sad shame
I think they got the respect from the public.. big album sales, huge audiences! Fuck the critics! Great guitar playing and what a great singer!
When Rick Beato tears this song apart, you then realise the true genius that is Tom Scholz...

I was 11 when this got released. When we played the album and everyone was going crazy for More than a feeling i put this on and went.... "Oh but listen to THIS!!" i have always felt the same about it all these years later.
When I workout to this tracks I just have to drop my equipment and air guitar to that part. It’s the best I’ve ever heard.
There are VERY VERY few albums where each and every song would be enough to buy the whole album. There are artists, even successful ones, who never achieve that feat in an entire career (I'm not sure I could name even 10 from my lifetime). Boston did it twice with Boston and Don't Look Back! Whether you listen with headphones and privately soak in the incredible sounds or share with the far corners of your city at ground-shaking volumes, Boston's music is the pinnacle of finely crafted melodies and counter-melodies from the guitar rock era. I have listened to their music for 40 years and I don't think anyone will ever match them - ever!
Well put, John. 40 years for me too.
From the day of release until this day and beyond, I totally agree with every word. Tom's genius of sonic perfection. Yes, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Steely Dan, Heart, Kansas.......

From one of the greatest musicians of all time...Tom Scholz
You bet your ass brother 👊
Let's face it...you're on a YT video pertaining solely to Boston (i.e. Scholz). My comment was essentially 'fan driven', rather to be taken literally. I have idolized Scholz since I was a teenager (I'm heading toward 50 years old). I've actually had the privelige to meet Scholz personally one to one some years ago and have been inspired during my life by Scholz by a vegetarian lifestyle, philanthropy, his music, electronics, ethical animal/human practices, playing/recording style/techniques and have spent 30 years collecting the Rockman line of processors/amps, which all reinforces my inspiration and love for Scholz and everything he's contributed to this world, both musically and otherwise. This is the sort of comment any fan would likely make....choose the artist. I realize Scholz isn't one of the best players of all time, and as you've said, no offense to him. He is one hell of an amazing player and yes, I realize he's classically trained on piano and I know more bio on Scholz than most people would. There are mind blowing players out there of all kinds and even 7 year-olds are ripping it up beyond belief. All in all, my comment is fan and inspiration driven. A Hendrix fan would claim Hendrix was the best. A Bach fan would claim Bach was the best. A Jeff Beck fan would claim Beck was the best. And so on. You are solely on a Boston video, therefore, comments like mine are always expected on any video of a specific performer of that group.
UPDATE: It now appears that JJ removed his snarky comment to me altogether, the moment I followed up with my explanation above. 🙄
When this album came out it was so far ahead of its time I couldn't stop listening too it and today it is still ahead of its time. Tom is a genius.
If an album anywhere nearly this good comes out again, we'll know it and we'll know it well, friend......

This song is the best song on the album for me. I remember being at Padre Island and my husband and I were just a couple years into our marriage (probably 87 or 88) we were so young. We rented a little VRBO …. We actually rented it twice over the years. Anyway we could look out the window and walk across the street and the beach was right there. It’s not that way anymore. Anyway we were at the beach with our boombox that played cassette tapes and we played Boston all day long .That day this beautiful Irish setter dog came up to us and he stayed with us for the rest of the afternoon. We have pictures of me in the water with him. We wanted to take him home with us, but when our day ended, he went on his way. Every time I hear this song I think of that day. ❤️
What a Beautiful memory , Thank You for sharing it . God Bless You and your Husband 🙏🙏🙏

I listened to this when my dad took me to preschool. I was raised right.
What a gift to humanity. The sheer brilliance of this song and the entire album is genuinely staggering. Each note and every instrument is perfectly placed. And it doesn’t stop with masterful craftsmanship. The melodies, harmonies and lyrics so successfully capture the emotion of restrained melancholy that has thawed out and broken it’s chains. This is truly one of the most epic solos of all time. At first one guitar voiced full throttle immediately fully met by an equally compelling counter phrase with a differing tone. Then the two guitar voices lyrically ring and reinforce the spirit in tandem .. Schulz finally liberates a universal feeling of euphoria and empowerment with the solo’s climax. Fully formed and balanced the solo effortlessly lands and with it all us listeners are transported to a much more beatific and righteous reality. It’s sublime really, what an awe inspiring and transformative artistic achievement this song is.
I will hopefully be into my 90's and still be rocking away to Boston!
That may the key to a long lifr

These guys were definitely ahead of their time when they hit the scene. True guitar fans always loved their music. They did things actually a lot like Lynyrd Skynyrd did, in that the guitars would run off away from one another on solos and then come back and harmonize. Just a really awesome sound, and had such an unique sound that with just a few notes played into any song you instantly knew it was a Boston song, (also like a Skynyrd song). This is something that is kinda lost these days. I really wish they never had any of the legal woes that they had. It robbed us fans of a lot of awesome music over many years. I can't remember anyone ever telling me that they didn't like Boston, and that's really saying something. Boston was truly one of the most talented bands ever. Imho

If you came of age in the 70s, this was in your collection, pop music way ahead of its time. When I hear it now, there is a wonderful sense of nostalgia to be sure, but I also marvel at just how good their technique was and how far ahead of the times they were in the studio.

Love this song,it reminds me of the sweet smell of Spring,of renewal,of ressurection,of escaping a dreadfull cold winter through the clouds to a place of music and warmth,of the victory of eternal life over death..
Awesome comment Robert and it’s timely. Today is March 21 2022 the second day of Spring and this song is perfect for today
Just had Rick Beato talking about this song, incredible. simply incredible!!!!
@@davidhenderson4555 I recently discovered Rick's channel. WOW. Love his talent, heart and analysis of so many great songs from the 60s and 70s. Hope he helps to keep the masterpieces alive.
One of my favorite songs on the album. It’s like the lead guitars are talking to each other.
Tom Scholz is one of the most incredible musicians of all time, and Brad Delp helped him to convey that truth to the world, throughout time.
Amazing song, amazing album. In my playlist since release date in 1976.
I have no idea how many times I have played this album. Love all their albums. Boston is one of the best rock bands of all time!🎸🎸🤘🤘
Brad Delp !! Amazing singer 🙋
My entire life flashes before my eyes during this solo.
For the 406 people that gave this a thumbs down either your confused and hit the wrong button or you have no idea about pure music talent cause this band had that and the singer is a once in a generation talent, his voice was like an instrument for him, not many people had as much talent in singing that he had, his Beatle cover band was a testament to the versatility he had
I’m 19. I grew up listening to classic rock, like Boston, with my dad. He turned 60 last November. He was a freshman in highschool when they first came out. Glad to know these songs still carry through the generations.
