  • By overwhelming request, we are reacting to the song How could you leave us by the artist NF. The top 2 songs request were this one and one from his new album, the title track to the album with the same name, Hope. This is our second NF song and all the commenters wanted us to go back to the beginning of the journey. This song is so emotional and raw. A story about his moms addiction and subsequent death due to chemical dependency. The videography is again, very similar to the first video we reacted to, Happy. The song is an emotional rollercoaster and heartbreaking.
    #nf #howcouldyouleaveus #nfmusic #christianhiphop
Our favorites lines from the song:
    1. tears running down my face and I yell Into my pillowcases
    2. I don't need a picture of my mom, I need the real thing
    3. It took me everything inside of me to not scream at your funeral
    4. I ain't going say that I forgive you 'cause it hasn't happened
    5. I wish you were here

MAMA is a continuation of this song from his latest project HOPE
a letter of apology, forgiveness, acceptance. But very much
Welcome to the world of NF🖤🗝️🤍Just found y’all, thank you!🎈🗝️
His parents separated and he and his two sisters grew up living with their dad. As his mother struggled with an Opioid addiction, as well as experiencing severe abuse from his mother’s boyfriend “Johnny” (discussed in intro 3) He also talks about his relationship with one of his sisters in “My Life” And touches further on these topics in his song “Nate” (Living situation and how he was brought up) every song from “Intro” to “Running” is a slice of the pie At the end of the song where he talks, he asked everyone to leave the room so he could get his feelings out I highly highly HIGHLY recommend taking the journey of Nate’s music, he’s not just another artist who blew up,
His music is cutthroat and brings out feelings that you can’t even describe.

I'm not into rap at all, just a 76 year old woman who came across this awful but beautiful rendering by accident, and I still cry every time.
I'm not listening or watching any others, just this one, that's enough, I don't think I could cope with Mama ❤

It seems that they were bounced from mum dad and grandparents, mainly grandparents.
Not a good start in life, mum chose to go the way of lala land, rather than face real life and her responsibilities.
Its a miracle hes still sane, ive read again he has OCD and depression and will not take medication containing any form of addictive medicine, because hes afraid he'll go the same way ❤

It's horrendous, apart from everything else she left him with guilt too.
Theres one line in this "If you really cared for me, then why you actin" says it all in a few words.
When I first heard this, I'm not into rap 🤗, I howled, you can put yourself in his and his sisters shoes, I had wonderful parents, and watching and listening to this, I just can't understand it.
My lifes been hell, I'm from England, but I'd never go down that route, I've dealt with it and got on with life, it leaves so much distress, for life.
The good news in his latest album he's forgiven her, the only way forward for himself, his wife and his young son.

NF wears his emotions on his sleeves and has battled with mental health which is heavy portrayed in his songs. Why the Journey is so amazing is because you can literally see the growth as he gets older and gets help. He has such a following because those struggling with the same battles can relate tremendously with his earlier work. And his later work gives them hope by showing them you can make it out of that dark place.

This song hits hard. My real Dad left when I was 5 years old, and I've seen him twice. I have been so angry for a long time, but then I forgave him, and my anger lifted even though he was not present for me to see him face to face. I still forgave him. He wanted nothing to do with me or my siblings so I couldn't love the man who didn't want his kids but as a man to let go of that rage that anger that Venom so I couldn't let that anger rot inside of me and definitely was not about to let consume my life. I'm a better man today, and I thank God that he helped me lift that anger. This song rips my heart because I can't ask my real Dad why did you leave us. 💔

I have been listening to NF from the very beginning i cant count how many times i have listened to each album on repeat. But when it comes to NF you have to really prepare yourself to dive into his music. His music videos are more like movies. I would say is true about his music you can literal close ur eyes when u listen to his music i can promise you a movie can be playing when u close ur eyes it be up on movie screen.
What i would encourage you if you continue the NF journey you really should start from the very beginning because all his songs will interconnect together and things will start to hard to follow. But ever song he puts out is gold. Yes a lot people would want to relate him to Eminem and they will say he is clearer version of him. I would agree he has similar traits he does talk about listening to Eminem and they did grow in same state so makes sense. But NF does tell as well he is does not like being labeled as a christian rapper. His faith does come in songs. The song (therapy session is where he has a line about that)
The transformation of Nate is insane is such a fun journey and very eye opening. If you plan skip around i would say dont listen to the song Hope until you listen to more of songs that music video is crazy. If you have questions about NF or songs choices Im always here to give my input.

The first so many times I heard this, I took the question How Could You Leave Us as referring to all the times that she was not present as he and sibs grew up. Now I feel like it is addressing her death. Despite all the disappointments, there was that lingering hope that someday, somehow they would have the completeness of having their mother back whole. But then she died and indeed took her life I have read and she has left them without hope of having that motherly presence, and so he demands 'How Could You Leave Us?'

This song resonates with me a lot. Not with my mother as much but with my father. He was absent most of my life, in and out of prison my whole life and when he was around he was toxic. He passed in 2021, I was one of the last people to speak to him(he was unconscious), I told him I forgave him, it wasn’t until his funeral that I realized I was more angry at him than I had ever been. I was 24 when he passed and the last time I had spoken to him before then was when I was 14. Thank God I had other people in my life to make up for his absence, and my amazing wife and daughter kept me above water, if they hadn’t of been there idk what dark place I would’ve gone to when he passed.

    NF (Nathan John Feuerstein)
    born March 30, 1991.
He had a difficult childhood, his parents divorced when he was very young. He and his two sisters lived with their mother, who was addicted to opioid. One of his mother’s boyfriends physically abused him and one of his sisters, so his father took the three children away. Due to strained relations, the children did not see their mother much. During high school years, NF severed contact with his mother because he felt uncomfortable when the court ordered that a social worker should monitor their conversations.
In 2009, his mother died of drug overdose.

tough #2 to follow up after Happy.......better to potentially go more in order on the "NF journey," but understand you taking care of the people who replied. However you react to NF songs, I'm here. Going in order allows you to be more in the loop since he references past songs as he moves through his material. BEST artist on the planet! More NF!!!! #loyalfanbase

    Great reaction
Nf is really good at knowing his feelings
Nf once sead in a interview that this was one of the hardest song. That he has ever written and recorded it was so emotionally draining that him and his producer have to leave the studio a few times to just get out of the studio
Ps his producer is tommy profit and he has produced 90% of nf song and he is also one of nf closed friends and he also said that the last part was just him in the studio tommy just pressed record and left the studio for a while just to let nf get out some emotion out olso there a video of nf breaking down at a concert when he played this for one of he frist time doing it live on stage it was sad
    You should also react to
Let you down ( off his proception album )
Nate ( off his search album
Mama (off his new album hope )
There are 3 songs more about his life and he relationship with his mam and dad
Ps before you watch hope the song you need to go back to his frist album and do mansion and also go to intro 3 with is off his 3 album perception
