I went through phases with Charlie Rose. Kind of hot and cold. But like Joe Rogan, today, he got great guests and had an open format show. It was just kind of tedious getting through Charlie's questions, sometimes. I always did like the more open format late at night that you could never fit between the commercials the rest of the day.

Fools Die: I think this is one of the best books I have ever read in my life. Honestly, It took me a few months to read. It is written with so dense thoughts encompassed in every sentence, that one could not just flip the pages. Every word in this book matters, and every sentence was given a deep thought by the author. Very rich book, as the life itself. I would not even consider this book as a novel, I would rather consider it being a book of life. Gambling world and the world of writers and the moviemakers are twisted in a perfectly tailored life path of the Book’s main hero - Merlyn. I found in this book so many reflections of my own life, and so much wisdom of power games that people play. It is a pleasure (and it requires efforts, too) to read, an absolute standout in literature from other peer writers of Mario Puzo’s time. I was fascinated how intelligent dialogues and life efforts are set up. Descriptions of thoughts of main characters are not excessive and deep enough to understand true emotions, which people feel in various circumstances. A very vivid book, a book of wisdom that encourages readers to live their lives in full. To leave “not only length of the life, but also the width of it”.

      ABOUT MARIO PUZO
"Mario Gianluigi Puzo was born in 1920 in Manhattan into a poor family who had emigrated from Campania, Italy. After military service in Germany during the Second World War, he studied at the New School for Social Research and at Columbia University in New York, and wrote stories for men’s pulp magazines. His first two novels (published in 1955 and 1965) achieved critical acclaim but not financial success, and Puzo wanted to write something with popular appeal in order to support his family of five children. The result was The Godfather (1969), which sold 21 million copies worldwide."

I can’t get enough of behind-the-scenes videos on The Godfather. I read Mario Puzo’s book when I was in high school and loved it but it’s the movie that’s seared into my memory - not the book. I wonder if even the greatest books can’t compete with a great movie version due to the way we process information. I guess humans are far more compelled by visual and auditory information than the written word.
As an aside, every time I see an old Charlie Rose interview I shake my head in dismay over the secret side of his life as a sexual predator that ended his career. Why are so many of these people sick? I don’t get it.

Whenever there is a book adapted for tv or the movies the book is always better than the onscreen version. The Godfather is the exception to that rule. The movie is much better than the book in my opinion

Is the movie better than the book...no. But it makes it enjoyable for way more people.
