So this was our first time watching and man this is most likely my favorite Christmas horror movie. This is Called Krampus from 2015. While the holiday season represents the most magical time of year, ancient European folklore warns of Krampus, a horned beast who punishes naughty children at Christmastime. When dysfunctional family squabbling causes young Max (Emjay Anthony) to lose his festive spirit, it unleashes the wrath of the fearsome demon. As Krampus lays siege to the Engel home, mom (Toni Collette), pop (Adam Scott), sister (Stefania LaVie Owen) and brother must band together to save one another from a monstrous fate. Again the Krampus entity is frightening and more scary than I thought it would be plus the actual story of this is genius to me something I never heard of during Christmas time so I loved it!

When you joked about the grandma having a lightsaber, my mind immediately jumped to her and Krampus pulling the Yoda vs. Darth Sidious scene.

So basically what happened at the end is everybody wakes up thinking it was a dream until the see the thing krampus gives the boy and they soon start to realize that everything that happened was real but krampus must’ve had a soft spot because he lets the family live their Normal life but is keeping a close eye on them

I have the Shout / Scream Factory collectors edition of Krampus the naughty cut basically it's the directors cut. So lots of behind the scenes things including audio commentaries is the reason I bring it up.
The writer an director Michael Doherty makes it perfectly clear you really don't see Krampus you only see some of him. All you see of him are his feet ,horns and hands , eyes and tongue. You do not see his face that is a mask made out of someone's face they. Because as he said if you look when he is making sounds the mouth never moves it's constantly open it never moves so it's a mask. They made that decision because Krampus is a old German fairy tale or whatever so there is no one clear description of him. The writer and director sent people to the Krampus Festival that is held every year wherever it happens. So they did not want to be the ones to give Krampus a official look. Basically like what happened to Santa Claus when Coca-Cola put him in their commercials. So they had Krampus wearing a mask made out of someone's face so you do not see his real face. That way anyone's description of Krampus could be a correct description. Case in point all of the elves their faces or mask are actually someone's description of Krampus. The people he sent to the Krampus Festival seen those that's thats they just put a mask on Krampus so you do not see his face. Because one mythological creature / person with varying descriptions of his face.

hi so for your question about who is krampus. while in most of the world christmas is known to be happy, jolly and santa related, in germanic and slavic countries not so much... according to folklore krampus is actualy a subordinate of santa. christmas was about getting what you deserved if you were good you got a visit from santa if you were bad you had to deal with krampus. when someone was bad he was visited by krampus and was offered 3 alternatives: 1.krampus will eat him 2.krampus will drag him to hell 3. krampus will beat him with his stick. if you chose the beating krampus will take out his stick and whip and start hitting you in this choice you dont die but you have to promise to krampus you will be better until next christmas or krampus will come back and drag you to hell.
    hoping this was helpful❤

In Sweden, we call him Julbocken ( the Christmas buck) and he actually was the one handing out the presents for the kids here on Christmas eve or scaring them if they hadn't behaved, up until the end of the 19th century when Santa took over. Nice reaction! Over the top movie but it's nice.

Krampus is the the twin brother of Santa, evil twin but brother all the same. Krampus is the story they told the children during the year, better be good or Krampus will get you.

It is! It’s a hilarious parody and addition to the Devil’s Child sub genre (like The Omen).

This has become a Christmas favorite of mine! The background on the character is from Austrian and Bavarian folklore. Krampus and Santa go house to house together and Santa gives gifts to the good children and Krampus punishes the bad children.

27:24 the thing that bothers me is that chimney's don't work this way, they are narrow at the bottom but wide at the top that is how so many people, even kids, have got trapped and suffocated in them

My ancestor were Anglo-Saxon or Nordic/Vikings Krampus is a part of are history, the name Krampus was given by Germans but the stories origins are Swedish. If everyone in a town loses the Christmas spirt Krampus will come. So you better not stop believing. Merry Krampus everyone.

large majority of this movie was pretty good but it feels like the guy did not know how to make an ending to this film because that was really bad trick r treat is still a much better film in this directors repertoire in fact it’s probably the only one
