The 4-door with pizzazz!!!! I have always loved the clean & crisp lines of this car. If the rear windows opened, I would love it even more!!!!

My wife 1st car in 1988, she could go for 50 miles then had to stop and let the engine cool, add water and go another 50 miles. Eventually the only door that would open was the passenger side front. What an adventure. One good thing is the $3,000 Alpine stereo we put in it. Lol yeah our priorities were different then.

Cool seeing these cars from my youth, sure brings back good memories . I remember these Malibu's as police cars and taxis back in the 70s & 80s . My parents owned some of these GM cars as well .

I had a 1983 Pontiac Bonneville Brougham 4 door in the same body style as the Malibu Sedan. It had the 5.0 V8 and every option in the book, I loved the velour pillow top seats, they were soo comfortable and the landau top with the opera lamps, it was a stylish car. You could work on the car unlike today's cars. The parts were cheap and it was easy to fix when something did go wrong.

In 82 (my HS freshman year) my parents upgraded from their 76 Chevette to an 81 Malibu coupe. That was a big day.

It was a different time, everyone in the neighborhood knew each other. Buying a new car was a big deal back then. I remember the night my dad picked up his '84 Caprice Landau coupe from the dealer. Almost everyone in the neighborhood came out to see it. Today, nobody notices it or cares, as all pickups, SUV's and mommy wagons have zero styling, all have the same features and look the same. Plus neighbors keep to themselves these days.

Also standard are back windows that can't roll down so that's why they have the little vent window

I've often wondered if these and their other GM counterparts were basically using the 1976 Seville body shells with minor changes. What's even more puzzling is why the side windows do not go down.

No these were body on frame G bodies. The older Seville was a derivative of the Nova which was a unibodoy from the firewall back with a front subframe.
The reasons the windows wouldn't roll down is because they would not clear the fender wells.

In 1991, I paid $1,500 for Buick's version of the last of the rear-drive As: A super low mileage estate Century Limited. Got me through two years of community college and state university, plus a couple years afterwards

I had one of these as a demo a 1981 Malibu Classic four-door sedan black and light green metallic with wire wheel covers the car actually looked really good with the custom upgraded interior. I beat the crap out of it LOL and then it ended up on the showroom floor and somebody bought it and financed it for four or five years. I think I was 20 or 21 years old. At Batey Chevrolet in Carnegie PA

The rear frames on these G Bodies were their weak point in the snowbelt. They were everywhere back in the day. Now you'd be hard pressed to find one.

Back when GM offered so many choices. Today they are a mere shadow of their former selves and keep shrinking with less and less options.

@@LearnAboutFlow Cars then you could fix in your driveway. Today you have to have the latest factory training and an expensive scan tool. Some cars require the removal of the whole front bumper just to do normal maintenance such as changing a radiator or fixing an A/C leak. I'll take the cars of yesterday that didn't require thousands in tools to repair.

The way they present this to you, you would think this was actually in the 70s rather than the eighties you got more of a '70s vibe More than a '80s vibe but then again GM seem to be a little behind the times at that time anyway 😂...

that 4.4 liter V8 was a dog. It had no pep at all and didn't get great mileage because you had to floor the accelerator to get it to move.
