The problem is dogs don’t really like having collars, real gps collars are also pretty bulky. Especially around home they could get caught if unobserved. I also almost lost my 2 shibas when some kids just forgot to close my door, so anything could happen. But you are right if I ever let my dogs go to backyard or whatever I will give them some sorta gps trackers.

my old room mate broke up with her ex and moved to a new house. the dog would constantly escape the back yard of the new house then walk his way back to the old house and i had to tell her that her dog is back at the house with us. it was super awkward cause the dog didn't realize his home is no longer home.
Just last week my cat went missing for 5 days. I live in a city, but on the mountain area in an old neighbourhood, so it's very safe here, as the cats never go down to the city. But it was pouring rain super heavily most of the days, so the first thought after 1 day is, "That's ok, it happens, she probably went into someone's open shed for cover from the rain". The 2nd day is more worrying, but trying to not stress it as she's been gone 3 days before. The 3rd day is where I start worrying, especially because on the 3rd day it stopped raining, so why would she not come home? Then all I'm thinking is she's locked in someone's shed, just which neighbour could it be? Will she ever be let out? Is she starving now? the next 4th and 5th days I was thinking of all bad possible cases, such as someone picked her up and drove away with her, or by random bad luck something fell on her and she broke a bone and laid down to die, all alone. I was crying a lot because of these thoughts. I missed having her presence in my bed, as she always slept next to me. On the 5th day me and my mom went around the neighbourhood and knocked on people's doors to ask them too check their sheds. The last person we asked to check, seemed promising, as she said she had her shed window open a few days ago. We went home. Then few hours later my mom tells me she came inside, and I ran downstairs and started sobbing into her fur. Truly, don't lose hope... But the pain is so real.
Esfan is so chad for what he did just to give rae time to find mika 😢 i know it's an event with a benefit on it but when it comes to emergency I'll definitely take care of it first, but I also understand rae for showing concern or anxiety about what is happening or might happen with the event and the dog if she ever picked one of them, it's really hard to stay composed if both event is happening all at once, and I'm so happy she got friends to depends on. ❤😊

Really glad Mika was found well. My dog ran away too but sadly the next day a lady found him laying on the street and he’d been hit by a car, what makes it more sad is that they took his body (he was alive but in pain) to the vet where my sister worked at and that’s how we found out, they sadly had to put him down

i remember my friends giant ass boxer ran away. me and my dad drove around everywhere asking people about this big ass dog. some nice people eventually found him but i could only imagine if a stranger ran into that dog and got the shit scared out of them lol. I remember when two of my Boxers ran away. We found them in a nearby wash and they stayed there the entire night. Luckily, we were close enough to home and we walked them back.
One time when our Cat ran away, we drove around to find him and he was on someone's lawn. We went up knocked on the door, etc and told them about our cat being on their lawn and if we could grab him and they said it was ok. Then he proceeded to constantly run away from us as the person watched and laughed. 💀
I truly know this feeling.. I had 2 dogs who ran away too. The other one, we knew that she could come back because that dog clearly knows her way home here and one time she just never came back... like someone stole him, I believe. And the one, he was just a baby :((
I couldn’t imagine how this feels. I found a stray orange cat last night who I thought belonged to someone who’s been searching for them for weeks. Unfortunately he isn’t their cat BUT he’s too pretty and sweet not to be a house cat usually. Going to the shelter to see if he has a microchip. Named him Aang because orange clothing duh and he has grey eyes lol. I hope he finds his family and if not he finds a good family because he really is too much of a sweet heart.
I’ve had cats and dogs show up like that before, with really nice coats, and I think the best thing to do is check that it hasnt been tagged and ask around the neighborhood (and look around for posters in the next few days or like a week later). I’ve only had one time when a dog showed up and it turned out to be someone’s pet, but in my experience a soft coat on a cat isnt that crazy. Actually of all the cats to ever show up at my doorstep, only one has had a super rough coat. I think the reason that determines their coat isnt that theyre owned, but rather than they’re able to eat enough. They will look very patchy if they’re malnourished. Additionally, a cat like that may have been released or thrown out by some person, which could be another reason for good coats. Anyway, good luck with the cat.

They do have softer coats since they can clean themselves, but you just know by looking and being around him that he is for sure a house pet. Took him to SPCA they scanned him turns out he mircochipped and they contacted the owner through email (phone number is disconnected) I called animal control to take him and hopefully the owners see the email that he's there. My mother posted photos of him online a few days ago and nothing so far. But he seemed healthy I gave him his food made and played/cuddle with him after bathing him. Turns out his real name is Tom LOL but I think I will stick with Aang. Hope little dude lives a good life I wished him the best of luck.

I'm pretty sure Mika is well trained. Seeing from the way Rae handles dogs (Mika and Kaya specifically), she's definitely good at training them. I think it's just that some dogs tend to have traits that lead them to wander off more than others. Huskies especially are independent and playful so they're more likely to run off somewhere. Plus Rae said Mika has anxiety, Mika probably got scared off by something to lead him to run away. (I'm not very knowledgeable with this, but I most definitely don't think Mika has bad training.)
my current dog was taught the trait when she was a puppy from my other dog before he passed. no amount of training has worked to undo it. she sees an open door and she sneaks out or bolts. while she's never been lost, I can see how it can happen.

@anne55_ oh no that just my guess truthfully because if she had a shoot this morning but had already did alot too look for him call animal shelter get the team working on it and talk to the neighbours and was still “composed” enough to have a shoot then stream than imagine it must’ve happened from a while ago before stream of course only a guess

The thing is she is also in a lot of stress already to continue searching coz its been a while (leslie said since early morning). She still got people who most likely in the right mind to continue the search. We all have different ways of how to do things. I'm pretty sure Mika is well trained. Seeing from the way Rae handles dogs (Mika and Kaya specifically), she's definitely good at training them.
I think it's just that some dogs tend to have traits that lead them to wander off more than others. Huskies especially are independent and playful so they're more likely to run off somewhere.
Plus Rae said Mika has anxiety, Mika probably got scared off by something to lead him to run away.
(I'm not very knowledgeable with this, but I most definitely don't think Mika has bad training.)

my current dog was taught the trait when she was a puppy from my other dog before he passed. no amount of training has worked to undo it. she sees an open door and she sneaks out or bolts. while she's never been lost, I can see how it can happen.

b) after trying everything for the few hours, her friends suggested her to continue her obligation as planned, and they would try to get more information on the case...

Whether or not if he’s trained, he’s an extremely anxious dog, if you tried harsh training he would be a shell of a dog and if he gets spooked he’s gonna dip, it comes with having a anxious dog, not every dog can be perfectly trained every time. I’m sure Rae could have done more to prevent this but it’s not her fault, it was unexpected
