Hi Hal, I came down with metastatic cancer and 11 brain tumors. I have been suffering since July 2022. I have enjoyed your show so much and was so disappointed when you were having trouble with it. I have recently found it again. You are so good, Hal!
My father is a marine biologist. When he was younger he was snorkeling at lovers cove (I think that’s the name) off of Catalina island. He and his friend saw a great white, that he said, was the size of a Volkswagen van. They hid behind rocks and then eventually circled up with their backs to each other. Maybe pregnant? I probably would’ve died from panic, honestly. Love you Hal! You manage to bring levity and straight facts that I appreciate.
Hal, you do a tremendous job on this show!!! You probably don't realize how many people really appreciate the research, time and energy you put into it but we do. Thank you for the hours of entertainment and information, Joe.
Hi Hal, yes I can confirm a few details for the Kai Cowley attack, very tragic, the Great White took his leg and he was only about 30 to 40 m from the beach in about chest deep water, another surfer managed to bring his body back to shore but sadly had passed by then. My youngest daughter knew him, we've surfed pondies a few times which is a good consistent wave around the headland from Ethel beach at Yorkes. Kai was a great upcoming surfer who loved it and I believe his whole family are surfers but have been supported by their local surf community. Also defo have bull sharks in the Bahamas but agree, most likely Tiger that took that poor lady.
He 99% would still be alive if he was using a FREEDOM + Surf Sharkshield & wearing a bite resistant Kevlar surf wetsuit made by SharkStop. $1500 of life saving gear his parents could’ve easily made back by working a few extra hours as an Uber eats delivery driver for 2 weeks and bought as a gift for him to protect their son.

Hey man. Don't know what the guy above me is trying to say, I just wanted to show sympathy. That has got to be one of the worst feelings. I don't have kids, but I imagine it is like family passing, but worse, as you watch it and they're sort of your responsibility to 18. A few years ago I was hit from below by a large shark and it seems like a territorial deal from what Hal has taught me. Likely a white shark. I was in Atlantic beach nc. Guy next to me saw it and freaked out. I wasn’t bitten just struck really hard, splashed water everywhere and I saw nothing due to the splashes. The fella beside me flailed crazily paddling in but I just stayed calm and figured I would be the calm one and wouldn’t get eaten vs that idiot splashing everywhere. He hit the beach and RAN all the way to his car and left. He never checked on me or even said a word.

Not a scientist, but a 30 year reef hobbyist here. I very highly doubt that salinity played any part in the mass fish death. Marine fish can handle a gradual decline in specific gravity (salt) to rather low levels. For that matter, marine fish are treated for parasites by submerging them in fresh water for up to a couple minutes. Even if a massive amount of fresh water were to be dumped into a spot in the ocean, it would dissipate before it would cause any issue at all. Maybe the local authorities (water, sewage, ) did something dumb and are blaming it on salt.

Hi Hal, wow, so impressed you managed to get records from 1770! 😮 Always interesting to see how far recorded shark attacks go back. Thanks. Keep up the good work Hal. ,
I wear a shark banz on my ankle and at first I thought it worked ,however I had it on when I got rammed by a shark in the hip area and if a sharks coming in fast that band does nothing.also , don't wear yellow in the ocean that is a bad idea.
Here in Naples when I grew up tye water was green and salty as hell . Over the last 20 years the water has gotten very clear and red tide is horrible. It's because they drain the sugar cane fields from the glades out of our passes . The only whale shark I saw was dead on the beach from red tide
I think the recent shark attacks that hit me the hardest -The young mum who was attacked lifting her child onto a floating playground in Mexico (Grrr... Who would build a floating playground that is accessible to sharks)? -The high school grad who jumped off the pirate ship in the Bahamas. That one is very controversial, I know. But I strongly believe it was a shark predation. If not, then a mermaid must of pulled him under and taken him to Atlantis. -The teenage Aussie surfer. And, -The young Russian in Egypt. I had nightmares after seeing the video of his attack. I think attacks on younger people are so much worse to stomach.😢. I guess because I am a mother, and these people are the same ages as my kids.
That Cameron Robbins footage was terrifying. There were at least 2 sharks who attacked him if not 3, then the officials and shark apologists pretended that it wasn’t caught in camera and that the witnesses weren’t screaming, “Shark! Something’s chomping on his sh1t! Bye Bye!” It’s even worse because people denied he was eaten.😢

meanwhile, in an alternate universe, Shark Hal is on BlueTube giving stats about recent interactions with humans. Main difference? There are no "unprovoked" attacks. The humans are always asking for it.
Gday mate we have had a bout 6 attacks here in south aus over the last 12 months by great white sharks some fatal in fact only this week a man was attacked at i believe it was eliston being an ex surfer my self and living in the local community where the young lad lived it is a terrible tradgedy and i cant imagine the fear and terror this poor young guy went through as well as his father who saw the whole ordeal happen . The great white is a protected species here and with the cage diving where they bait the sharks almost tease them to come close to the divers in the cage these are not stupid creatures they are learning that food is associated with the black creatures and this i believe will see the attacks will only get more intense .
Hal, about your first account: according to a few websites I just visited, there are indeed bull sharks present in the waters off the Bahamas, though apparently they don't breed there. Thanks for another great video.
Yep!! Definitely plenty of Bulls in the Bahamas and even Whites too! In fact, OCEARCH has tracked several there, and the ones that pinged in the area in the past (and some even around the time of Cameron Robbin’s death) include Maple, Ironbound, Luna, Miss Costa, and Crystal.
Great analysis of deterrents, risk, decision and psychological factors compounded by false sense of security. Education for attack avoidance and bite resistant wetsuits are a way forward. Those new nano weave fabric suits are better than kevlar. They'll still puncture and break bones but the bleed outs will reduce significantly.. they should incorporate seen in tourniquets at intervals on the arms and legs. They should also incorporate self inflating pockets and SOS emergency flares. Hal you're still the best podcaster on youtube. Incredible content and presentation. Thank you.
Sharks keep happening! I would like to Warn Florida people who like swimming with Manatees. A friend in Homosassa told me that bull sharks have been cruising up the Crystal River. Please be careful. Hey Hal, do you know the average water temperature for Florida vs the Bahamas? I know they claim the water is too warm for GW’s to be in the Bahamas, but they are proven to be off Florida. Saw a video a couple years ago of some fishermen who caught a juvenile GW off the beach and were able to safely release it. Just wondering if it’s that big of a difference to justify the claim. I’ve also never understood why some people will paddle board a mile from shore! IMHO you’re asking for a shark to at least check you out!

Perfect timing Hal! Another great video buddy.. thx
Hi Hal, wow, so impressed you managed to get records from 1770! 😮 Always interesting to see how far recorded shark attacks go back. Thanks. Keep up the good work Hal. ,
1700 is the place in Australia the attack happened in 2023.
Seventeen Seventy is such a cool unique name for a town. Had to look up the origin of it.
You should go to beaches and preach about the most gruesome attacks to warn people about the risks of getting in the water 😂
Hal… great shirt!!! Looking forward to your shows as always.
Hey Hal
congratulations on 80k subscribers
I wear a shark banz on my ankle and at first I thought it worked ,however I had it on when I got rammed by a shark in the hip area and if a sharks coming in fast that band does nothing.also , don't wear yellow in the ocean that is a bad idea.
Yum yum yellow
Here in Naples when I grew up tye water was green and salty as hell . Over the last 20 years the water has gotten very clear and red tide is horrible. It's because they drain the sugar cane fields from the glades out of our passes . The only whale shark I saw was dead on the beach from red tide
Great show again Hal❤
Absolutely love the show thank you for all the work you do
I think the recent shark attacks that hit me the hardest -The young mum who was attacked lifting her child onto a floating playground in Mexico (Grrr...
@@toscadonnano proof of sharks so he drowned im afraid.
MegaKingRichard, Congratulations!! You are the first Internet TROLL to comment on my post. Please go back to playing Pokemon and let the grownups discuss shark attacks.
@@toscadonna I have seen several enhancements of the cell phone video. I agree with you.
@@Pensacolavixen absolute rubbish
Hal did you see that Utube short where the guy is being helped down from parasailing and yells shark. The assistant says ah ha then aims him right into the sharks mouth.
Then another one is a man standing with an assistant on a platform, and a shark jumps up and takes a bite.
This was a great show Hal!! It’s still blows my mind how many people go into the water, knowing that there are sharks in the water! Are used to be one of them, but I was just playing around and swimming in the water. I never did any surfing, diving, or anything else in the deep waters! But I know it doesn’t really matter! One of my best friends is going to the keys in two weeks and has no fear of sharks! I am forwarding this video to her, hopefully it will help! Thank you so much for all that you do! I really appreciate all the time and effort you put into your shows!😊❤️👍🏼🦈
CZcams seems to keep turning off my notifications for this channel for some reason. Anyone else experiencing this?
"a large charging shark"...gives me chills just hearing you say that.
Congrats Hal. Many thanks, from South Africa 🇿🇦
Great show as always Hal.
Hal it’s impressive the way you remember so many of the victims names.
Hey, there Hal. London 🇬🇧 Calling xxx
Thanks Hal, great show again.
Hey Hal, I like the shirt. We just sent the Dolphins packing outta frigid KC without a win, so your show is a perfect ending to a great night. The info about pithing was really interesting and had to watch a video demonstrating it - pretty graphic.
I'm still not swimming in the ocean. Just knowing how many shark attacks their have been and how often they occur is enough to keep me being a landlover forever. Thank you again Hal for your time and excellent work on getting facts. Much appreciated. 🦈 🦈 🦈 Sharks 🦈 Happen is the best way to get th news.
Another great show. Thanks for the info. Congrats to the Wolverines!
Go Blue!!!
Well I googled it and said there were 84 shark attacks last year and 18 were fatal
Great as always
Another great episode, Hal! Thanks you
1 attack is too many a year.
Hey there, Hal! Nice shirt. This video was quite sad. I know each person makes a conscious decision to swim in these waters, but when it comes to kids...it's truly sad.
Til next time! See ya 🦈
Thanks Hal ! Always enjoy your stories. Hope your holidays were great. See ya soon , keep'm coming !
Love this show!

Thanks again for another great show Hal 💠
I Love Sharks Happen. Thanks Hal for another great video.

meanwhile, in an alternate universe, Shark Hal is on BlueTube giving stats about recent interactions with humans. Main difference? There are no "unprovoked" attacks. The humans are always asking for it.
Hello. Good Evening Hal 🦈🦈 Happy Shark Saturday 🦈🦈
Awesome Hal! Thanks for all the great information and hard work you put into the show & my husband love his Sharks Happen T-shirt 👍🤩👏
Exactly 💯
Hal, about your first account: according to a few websites I just visited, there are indeed bull sharks present in the waters off the Bahamas, though apparently they don't breed there. Thanks for another great video.
Yep!! Definitely plenty of Bulls in the Bahamas and even Whites too! In fact, OCEARCH has tracked several there, and the ones that pinged in the area in the past (and some even around the time of Cameron Robbin’s death) include Maple, Ironbound, Luna, Miss Costa, and Crystal.
Thx for the great upload Hal
Great analysis of deterrents, risk, decision and psychological factors compounded by false sense of security. Education for attack avoidance and bite resistant wetsuits are a way forward. Those new nano weave fabric suits are better than kevlar. They'll still puncture and break bones but the bleed outs will reduce significantly.. they should incorporate seen in tourniquets at intervals on the arms and legs. They should also incorporate self inflating pockets and SOS emergency flares. Hal you're still the best podcaster on youtube. Incredible content and presentation. Thank you.
Hi Hal 🌝 another great show, thanks.
Sharks keep happening! I would like to Warn Florida people who like swimming with Manatees. A friend in Homosassa told me that bull sharks have been cruising up the Crystal River. Please be careful. A friend of mine was bitten by a small bull shark swimming with Manatees in the Indian River back in 2015.
Thank you for that warning! Swimming with manatee in the Crystal River is something I'd love to do but maybe not......
@@Justicia007 I am not trying to scare you off. There are plenty of tours with experienced divers to watch out for threats. I would do it again with a group. Certainly not by myself. It is a beautiful area. Especially by the three sisters spring.
@@Justicia007 I lived in Manatee County for 9 years. The Bay side of Anna Maria Island, and the Manatee Causeway, are great places to swim with Manatees. They will Love you if you bring a nice big iceberg lettuce for them.
*WING FOILER* is a *provoked* attack, Hal, if he landed on the shark. I dont think you should add it to the stats.
Another great show. Btw, there are over 40 species of sharks in the Bahamas including Bull Sharks. Probably a tiger shark on the first attack though.
God you don't know how bad I go threw withdrawals when I don't have a SHARKS HAPPEN video to watch. Please keep them coming... ❤❤❤❤so very very happy when I see a video...
Great show Hall you are quite mesmerising to watch 👌😊🦈🦈🦈🦈
80k Hal great job love your show hopefully the sharks happen community hits 100k soon you deserve brother keep them sharks coming
Curious what you think of the “Black Demon” reported by fishermen. Undiscovered species?
I love your show, Hal, and I love your T shirt! BTW, I know I am more afraid of Sharks than they are of me. Looking forward to all your episodes.
If I were a shark….. my first choice of patrol would surely be the beaches of Australia…
Not me.... Lots of big crocodiles there. I would be a tuna hunting shark in Florida.
The reports here on Maui said witnesses said a tiger shark
Hi Hal
Thanks for reporting these attacks our media in Australia doesn't cover these, so i've shared to networks
Red Tide , happens in Florida all the time

Good Evening Hal 👋😃 How are you this Cold Evening? It's 37° degrees feels like 34° degrees here in South Georgia ugh 😩😩🥶🥶🥶🥶 It's COLD 🥶🥶🥶🥶
17 degrees here in WA right now. Fortunately I have a wood stove, and all of the dogs are in for the evening.
So, you're having a heat wave? 🥵
Here in Chicago it's -1 and tomorrow will be
-13 🥶 Plus it's been snowing for a few days 🌨️
But at least there's no sharks 🦈 🤭
