  • The first time I heard about nematodes, it was in the context of why my fruit trees were dying. "Blame the nematodes!" When I first saw them under the microscope, I had no idea what I was viewing. Well! A bit of research cured that lack of information.
    Nematodes live in almost every geographic location on Earth, even in extreme habitats as ice and hot springs, and they live on (or in) almost every other kind of animal and plant alive today. Free-living nematodes are extremely abundant in soils and sediments, where they feed on bacteria, fungi, detritus and other nematodes! In fact, four out of every five animals on earth are nematode worms.
    These nematodes are from soil in my yard. Used a Tomlov DM202 Max microscope for photos and videos.
